What do you think about dressing like its the fifties. The fifties and sixties had soo much more style than today. I even put my hair up like elvis. Does anyone else do this?

I strongly disagree. Social conservatism was so strong and gender roles were so strict that there wasn't nearly as much choice or freedom in what people would wear and still be considered socially acceptable. In the fifties at least, sixties are a different story.

I would love to dress 50's, but it's too late for that.
But, if you want to do it, do it.

I sometimes dress like it would be 40's. Plain blazer, dress shirt, a tie, slacks that have the 40's fit(that means they are not tight, but not baggy either, kinda hard to explain) with a black leather belt. Finished with a trench coat and a fedora.

Just call me crazy, but I like it.

Absolutely not.
The patterns, and colors, and... blugh..

I dress in a simple style. A good soft dress shirt, tight boot cut jeans, and a good pair of leather shoes. Nothing really flashy.

Sure I like vintage, but that's just taking it too far.

What's wrong with it? Should everyone wear the newest, most fashionable clothes?

In 1956 my granddad was a Teddy Boy, and I wouldn't dress like that!

Well, just try to understand that there were other styles in the 50's too.

And everyone, remember, not everyone in the 50's dressed like Fonzie. Every movie seems to tell you otherwise, but not many people really dressed up like a greaser and acted like one. Most men dressed like Richard, that's a fact.

I love when guys dress like they're from the 40's or 50's. My boyfriend does sometimes and I think it's very classy. I happen to like the fashions from that time period a lot. (:

My granddad has just told me he's going to buy me 'a zoot suit, with a shape drape, a russet gusset and a queer rear' so I won't look a 'square' when I go to my cousin's wedding next month!

Couldn't have said it better myself! Everything back then was so conservative and everyone looked the same. I mean boys dressed in polos, leather jackets, white ts, and jeans! Or gentleman's quarterly lol. Girls wore dresses... Everywhere all the time! Sounds kinda lame to me. Where was the sex appeal in the 50s??

I think you can dress like the 50s but you have to modernize the look. Don't make it look too old and vintage because it will not work. Just think of ways to make the whole outfit modern yet have a 50s or 60s feel to it.
