If a teacher marks a wrong answer as correct on your assignment and you do not inform the teacher of his/her error, is that a form of cheating? Why or why not?

This is what we're debating on ROTW now? Seriously?

Cheating or not, it doesn't matter. You made an error, you now know the correct answer.

This isn't very ROTW-y, but anyway:

If a store forgets to give you a receipt or a restaurant mishandles your meal, do you get either for free? In most cases, yes. The same should apply to tests. It's not your responsibility to grade the test, just to do it in the first place. You could be good-natured and have it corrected.

True, but I think it is cheating because I would have points that I did not earn.

Would you rather fail or pass? Just think.

I would rather get a bad grade that I earned than a good great that I got because i cheated.

That's irrelevant to the question, the question isn't "Would you get it corrected?" but rather "Is it cheating to not get it corrected?"
Frankly, I think that if you have noticed the teacher's error and realize that you answered the question wrong, but do not tell the teacher, it is cheating.

Well usually if you tell the teacher they will be nice and give it to you anyway, or give you extra points for being honest.

This isn't really good material for ROTW though...

I'd say if you were honest you would tell your teacher but I wouldn't think that would be cheating

Yeah I agree, what happens if it is marked wrong and its right or if your paper is totalled up wrongly? Its a case of swings and roundabouts
