What is your opinion on this show? Does it have any redeeming values? Does it reinforce negative stereotypes? Is it just a vehicle that exploits people and their problems under the guise of helping them? Do you think that it is fake or real?

It's scripted, end of. People are dumb enough to buy what they're sold.

Whateva, whateva. Bitch be frontin'.

Y'all dun know me!

Despite being entirely scripted, I still find the show somewhat entertaining. I don't know. I feel filthy just saying that. But filthy in a good w--

I'll stop talking now.

Maury isn't fully scripted the people on that show are really that slutty and ghetto. There are scripted parts though which include them talking to the video though but besides that it's mainly real people trying to gain publicity and make money off of their bad circumstances.

I used to watch Maury everyday. The paternity tests were funny as hell.

But now they've gotten on my nerves. Whenever I catch it on TV and look at it for more than five minutes, I'm going, "Okay, we get it. You slept with five guys and two girls and you don't know which is the other parent of your four kids. Go fuck yourself." It gets particularly annoying when, after he reads the paternity results, and the girl goes screaming in the guy's face or running backstage in tears. And, of course, the guy acting a jackass doesn't make things any better. Then backstage they usually make up with a hug and a line similar to this:

Girl: I want you to be in my baby's life. *sniff sniff*
Guy: I'm gonna step up to the plate and handle my business [one of these fucking days].
Guy and Girl: *sniff sniff, hug hug*

So, yes, in my opinion, it does seem to reinforce a lot of negative stereotypes. For every assface teenager that comes on there confuzzled about paternity, I know two more in real life who are quietly resolving the issue. Because of how ridiculously repetitive it has become, I don't too much watch Maury these days, unless they have a show that is not related to paternity or cheating spouses//lovers, and other fucked up family secrets, and sexually active twelve-year-olds.

Besides, isn't that what Jerry Springer was for?
