Ok. So I have finished almost every other subject holiday homework, except for one, tiny, little subject, English.
Since, I am a 12th Standard student. And they gave us a holiday homework. This holiday homework will add up to my internal assessment marks!(I need them god damned thingz!)
What is the holiday homework, you ask?
Make a short story under 800 words. Yes.
A story. I never attempted to make a story in my life. And this is terrible!
Well, I made couple of script or dialogue like stuff. But those are not stories :(
I don't know how to make a story. What to do; where to begin; how do I make the settings, character, environment and etc. Should it be first-person or in third-person narrative?
You know how I am impaired in the English department.
So, any tips&tricks, guidelines, and links on how to make a short story is appreciated.
Thanks for reading this out.

Get inspiration from something. That is a great way to start. Think of a central plot and let your creative juices flow. That's all I can think of right now. Sit down and think what you want to write about.

Think of your experiences, the people around you, and your environment. Something would enter your mind by then. Add funny (but witty) themes as flavoring. There.

First person narrative is probably best, more dramatic. Be careful with your verb tenses, and avoid reported speech, use direct speech dialogue, you'll make fewer grammatical mistakes. Don't try to be funny! Don't try to write a humorous story. What might sound funny to you, might not sound funny to the teacher reading it.
You could get an idea by reading a newspaper and take a news story and make yourself the main character.

Oh, yes. Inspiration, I got a load of them. They will become useful, I hope. A central plot... I will see what I can come up with.

Yes. I think I should first write down the Characters and their attributes, history and etc; also, the plot's onset, turn-points, issues, climax and end. Lucid events and what not.
Oh, it will be grabbing. ;)

Oh. It will be around my experiences, and somewhat about my view about the world. I will not make it funny, as I am going to talk about life problems, and taboo issues that revolves around the main character.

It is like you have read my mind, somehow. First-person narrative is my choice. Alternating Character third point perspective is kind of hard!
Verb tenses. Now, you are tempting me to google that. Oh! I did, but it will come in handy:Click me (http://www.englishpage.com/verbpage/verbtenseintro.html).
No. Just like the above, I will try to talk about the dark side of the society.
ROTW's titles are all good issues to talk about; dried up petroleum wells and etc.

I might double post to keep you guys updated, and see where I got stuck and stuff. So, until then.

Your homework is to write a story with up to 800 words. It is easier to do than what you are thinking. Maybe you should write the story of your parent’s love life. It is an interesting subject and you will not have difficulty in getting facts because you are already a witness of their love story. Good luck!
