My Mom

I've been begging and pleading my mom to spend time with me since she's only home on the weekends, but she usually says no because she has to work from home or she wants to go see my brother play football. Today she promised me we could go get lunch or something, but of course, she took my brother instead because he wanted to talk about how great he is at football. I'm majorly disappointed. I feel like my mom cares about my brother more. /= Sorry, just a rant.

Hey Brenna. I can understand how you feel about not getting to spend enough time with your mom. When you have another sibling it's normal to feel a little bit left out and like you don't get quite as much attention. I think it's a common emotion among siblings, so you're not alone.

Maybe you could sit down with your mom and have a talk about how you're feeling? She might not completely understand that you're feeling left out, and if you tell her then she may make more of an effort to include you and to spend time with you. You said that you've asked to spend time with her in the past, but as far as I can tell you haven't talked with her about feeling left out. Things might change a little bit if you do.
