I notice you said you're going to the therapist to be diagnosed. I take it that means you're not diagnosed already. Do you mind describing your experience?
Also, what kind of information are you looking for? I've studied psychology (halfway through my BA in it) and may be able to give you at least some answers.

I was misdiagnosed with Manic depression & anxiety. I hear someone talking to me commenting on what im saying or doing. Sometimes I cant control what im saying, doing, or even feeling. I cant remember things, I have extreme memory gaps, random people swear they know me when ive never seen them before. People have called me by the wrong name. Ill find things in my room I know I didnt buy, Some of the work thats been handed back to me is in totally different writing. Id "wake up" with cuts on my body. Things like that. I was wondering what can be done for people that have DID, like treatment or something.

That does sound like DID, though only a mental health professional can diagnose you for sure.

The only treatment, as far as I know, is therapy. DID is often related to traumatic events in your past. Through counseling, it is possible that you and your "alter(s)" can once more become a single, connected personality. My suggestion for the first step you can take on your own is to write a note to your alter. Anytime you loose time, go and check the note to see if they've left a reply.

Pretty much what Alex said.

Your description is spot on, m'dear. Usually a psychiatrist diagnoses, at least this is what I was told by my psychologist, as to deal with medications and treatment. I'm not too familiar with the treatment process, because my psychologist just worries over me all the time and doesn't suggest much as far as treatment. Though, she deals with families and teens who self-harm mainly.

I was put on some kind of meds when I was landed in the loony bin though. And I have no memory whatsoever of those six days. I resurfaced a day or two after I had apparently left the hospital... so whatever they put me on seemed to keep one of us in control, though neither of us wanted to suppress the other.

I'd love to hear from you when you know what the professional has to say. There's an interesting community of DIDs here, I see. And from what I've seen so far, it's a welcoming and supportive community.

Dissociative identity disorder is a psychiatric diagnosis that describes a condition in which a person displays multiple distinct identities or personalities (known as alter egos or alters), each with its own pattern of perceiving and interacting with the environment.
