What do you think about prom?

Is it just a BIG waste of money?

Or is it something that totally AWESOME?

We don't have proms untill sixth form but I love the idea of proms ^_^ I think it's cute but I think people waste a lot of money on clothes and dresses and stuff :3
But Im looking forward to sixth form prom!

I didn't mind prom so much. I wouldn't like it if it was every single year, but having one right at the end of high school is a good way to mark the end of an era for you.

I didn't go to my junior year last year. I had a date but her parents wouldn't let her go(she was a freshman) and I didn't think to offer to pay for her until after it was too late. Tickets were actually pretty cheap for my school's prom last year, it was only $50. I think you should go to at least one of your proms though. I'm definitely making sure I go to my senior prom this year.

I won't bother to go since no one will ask me and it'll cost money to buy a dress

I'll be having my first prom next year ^^, luckily my parents will buy me an all white set. I'm quite excited actually.

I'm probably going to have to go to junior prom and senior prom this year, something I'm not too fond of doing, but meh, those are the consequences of being a senior and dating a junior... I'm going to see if I can convince my girlfriend that junior prom is a waste of time, but she's going to want to go because all her junior friends are going...

But if she's expecting me to pay for her (for junior prom at least), yeah, that's not happening.

But hell, as much as I want this relationship to last a long time, I don't know that it will last until prom, so who knows.

I do want to go to senior prom though.

Senior prom I had was pretty amazing and you don't need a date to go along with you. It may look awkward but my prom entrance was probably worst than sitting at a table with no date. I had a date to go with me, we were meant to meet up and drive together to prom. That never happened: Murphy's law is correct sometimes. My date had to call some friends to take her to the prom on time, then I came late as I also got lost getting there. I came nearly before all the food was gone, grabbed a plate and got my food, wolfed it down making a mess. My date (at another table) was pissed as I was late, I nearly fell flat on my face on the dance floor on the first song. When I went to leave to the after party with some friends, my car busted again so I got it towed and hopped in with a bunch of other people into an over-filled car.

As awful as it was, it was also great because these unfortunate events made the whole thing funnier to me, especially getting crammed into the car. It only happens once so I would go because you may regret it later on and it's a time to have fun with the class. Everyone is more light-hearted so there's not an issue of "popular" kids rejecting others because everyone is there for a good time and to make the most of it.

And if someone does ask you...?
