Death Penalty for Animal Abuse/Cruelty

This thread is in response to a video (which I couldn't bear to watch) of a teen girl throwing puppies in a river. I do not agree with the death penalty. Also, I believe that while animal abuse is unacceptable it is not as bad as harming humans.

Even when killing innocent animals, the death penalty isn't appropriate.

I don't endorse the death penalty in any case, and this is nowhere near as bad as some of the things capital punishment could be used for.

Animal abuse should carry heavier sentences though. And by heavier, I mean heavier.

I was inspired to ask this based on this thread and the response. Some feel that the girl should die, and I wonder if they would still say that if asked to debate their opinion which will require them to think deliberately and rationally.

The death penalty should never be used, and if the governments feel that it should then it should only be used for murder of another human being. Yes, killing animals is evil and disgusting, but I don't believe someone deserves to die because of it.
