i have one thing to say: i HATE painting!!!!
i'm not bashing anyone who likes it, i like looking at it, just not using it. i know some great painters. the worst one i know it ME! i don't know why, i just can't make the brush so what i want it to do! using graphite and other stuff like that i'm fine, i'm actually pretty good. but when it comes to acrylics or oils, just blow the frickin thing up before i touch it. i have no idea how people make the most amazing shit with paints, it must be a skill i don't have.

okay, done ranting :P anybody got some tips for me? i have a piece i have to paint for art class for a contest, and i'd like to make myself look as competent as possible.

Hey your online as I post =P

Painting Is something im getting into I find it very fun I love water color because it is easier to use and clean up. Acrylics I like but they can be a pain in the but to use since they dry so quickly. oils seem nice to me because they blend very nicely take a while to dry but that can be a bonus.

I truthfully got no idea what to tell you unless you specify which you are using. I am going into oil painting and I use watercolor aswell.

well one thing might be is use it like a pencil maybe ? dip very lightly into paint or heavy depending on how thin a line u need how dark a line you need and when painting use diffrent pressures like you would a pencil to get values. It is easy you just got to understand how it works like how the paint brush act when you do diffrent things.

thanks :D

my art teacher told me practically the same thing today, so that's what i'm working on. my painting is in oils, but my teacher has pulled me aside to practice with acrylics for a couple days. :P

i love oil painting and i want to become a painter when i grow up but i mostly dont do realistic other then SOME nudes (i love drawing naked ppl ahha)
basically my idea for painters is develop a style that u like and others will like it to. wether it is abstract, realistic, semi realistic etc.
many ppl can paint realistic, but only a few can encorperate there imagination into there paintings even if tehy cant paint realistic and those r the ppl that succeed.

I actually draw a rough outline of what I'm painting with a pencil first, that way I can get the paintbrush to do what I want a little easier. Without that, I'd probably suck badly at painting =P
