I have to write an essay for English...I choose this topic
Think about inventions that have affected our lives. Select one invention and write to explain why this invention has been good or bad for society.
I chose to pick computers as the inventions...
this is my essay. I have yet to write the conclusion, but I want to get help on any grammar or spelling - anything really, to make it the best it can be.
Computers are one of the greatest inventions in history. They have greatly changed society, changing the way people communicate with each other and get information. There is no need for a huge dictionary – someone can access many different online dictionaries, as well as translators, conversions, and thesauruses. People can pay and buy things online. Computers are used to store and compute data, so it is much easier to store important things on a computer than it is on paper. They have helped the world greatly, helping us take a large step into the future, and impacting many areas.
People have used computers for many different things, and computers had impacted many different areas, like the business area. Businesses use computers for keeping track of accounts, money, and items they need. People can use computers to create graphs or pie-charts to show others in meetings. Important data and information can be stored on a computer for future reference.
Not only are entertainment and businesses impacted by computers, but education as well. They help students with projects, homework, and essays. Students can look up information on an online encyclopedia much quicker and research a particular topic. They can also type their essays on a word processor and create power points and add images if needed. Typing instead of writing an essay would make the essay much neater and organized. Teachers use computers by keeping track of grades and typing instructions for students.
Pharmacists use computers to keep a record of what medication to give to the patient and the amount they need. In hospitals computers are used to keep data of patients and their status, and also keep track of equipment placement and status. Scientists need computers to find cures for diseases like cancer; otherwise cures for a lot of diseases wouldn’t have been found.
