not sure if this is the right place to put it but:

anyone who can give me the correct answer to 27^21 can explain how they got it and prove that it is correct will get some rep from me not sure how much but you will get alot. and i want it in simplist form. oh and incase your wondering this is not for school its independent work im doing on probability.

and so people arent just copying what the first person put i suggest sending me a pm but you dont have to.

I used Windows Calculator...

But honestly, the only way I can think of how to do it by hand is to multiply 27*27, and then just keep multiplying the answers by 27, 20 more times.

You multiply 27 by 21 27 times to get the answer. You multiply the answer by 27 each time until it has been multiplied 27 times ( Edit: I didn't notice what Jack said, I only read the first two lines lol )

So: 27 X 27 = ___ X 27 = ___ X 27 = ___ and so on

( Am I right? )

ok thanks i know how to do exponents just not extremely huge ones and what version of windows are you running cause by the 12th 27 i get-1.500946352969991e+17. so unless you converted that (which i have no idea how to do) you must be running a different version of win os. im running win7.

Switch to the scientific calculator. Go to file (or view, its the first drop down menu) and then select scientific. Then type in 27, hit the x^y key, then type in 21. Should get you the answer.

Move the decimal to the right seventeen times.

So, someone who doesn't know how to do exponents, nor what scientific notation is needs to know what 27 to the 21st power is?

*coughs under breath troll

i do know how to do exponents and well i dont know what scientific notation is but i was doing seventh grade math in second grade so bite your tounge

it has to do with probability.

asuming that all the keys on a keyboard are mixed around and you dont know where they are the prob of typing a 21 character long sentence by randomly pressing keys=27^21

because the sentence only includes lower case letters and the spacebar there are 27 different things you can press but there is only a 1/27 chance you will press the correct key the first time your odds are the same for each of the 21 keystrokes you make so to have the second one correct you must have the first one correct so you multiply 1/27 by 1/27 by 1/27 so on and so forth and i figured exponents would be easier than doing that 21 times if i dont make sense or if you thing im wrong i will gladly link you to the source i got this informatin from.

i wouldnt have to explain this information to an incompitant troll if he had just read my original post carfully.

I apologize,
I wasn't trolling, what I meant was, "Why do you want to know what 27^21 is?"
You asked the question "what is 27^21?" and (I quote this) "...12th 27 i get-1.500946352969991e+17. so unless you converted that (which i have no idea how to do)" So nothing I said in my post was incorrect, or trolling.
I'm sorry if you misunderstood my post, I meant it to be in a friendly tone, and thank you for answering my question in your post.
Oh, and just a bit of friendly advice, don't use the word "incompetent" if you can't spell it, it makes you look stupid.

well im sorry that i didnt take that as a "friendly tone".

just some advice dont point out other peoples mistakes if you know what they mean it makes you look like a troll.

geez kaius you might as well move this to ramblings of the wise.

It's easy.. Just do 27X27, 21 times.

I don't feel like doing it right now.

Or you could get a scientific calculator, or even use microsofts calcualtor.

27^21.

Well.. He asked how YOU do it, not how a calculator does it, but yeahh.. If I had my scientific calculator I'd do it, but it's in my backpack, and will stay there until school starts up again..

Sorry, if I ever use 'XD' I mean it in a friendly tone xD

And I was just trying to help xD. I've had several people not take me seriously because of misspelling words like that.

And just one more thing, out of curiosity why do you need to know the probability of typing a 21 character phrase?
Ohh here, I got an idea, I'll type 21 random letters and we'll see what they say xD:

"joo r a incompitant troll"

XD
Kidding!

Oh, and 250th post YAAAY~!

i dont "need" to im just bored and we were doing typing in my computer class and my friend cant type worth shit if he doesnt look at the keyboard so he's just like "im gonna randomly press buttons" and i started to wonder what the chances of him typing the correct phrase, so i figured it out btw jack of clubs told me the answer so this thread really is of no use to me. btw the answer is.
