Inspired by a thread not on VT, name some albums you feel are overlooked by people but deserve the recognition. They can be from bands as big as Metallica to bands as small as the one near you who plays to about 10 people. I'll start with two:
Sikth - Death Of A Dead Day
Sikth are one of those bands that were before their time. Their progressive metal (not too far from Meshuggah) is insanely fast and if they are still around today they would be rightly seen as one of the best metal bands around. Not enough people 'got' Sikth when they were around and they split up. They are the only band that I really want to get back together as they were so talented.
Sylosis - Conclusion of an Age - http://www.myspace.com/sylosis
I put the link in the heading as I want people to give their stuff a listen. Sylosis are called a melodic death metal band but I like to think they are a thrash metal band because of their awesome riffs. Sylosis are from Reading, England and should be seen as one of the best metal bands around. For some reason they aren't though. Conclusion of an Age is a mindblowingly good album, heavy as fuck, fast in parts and slow and melodic in others. Their riffs on this album are just amazing. If they were American, they would be huge in the world of metal but unfortunately, like Sikth, modern British metal bands are overlooked in America. Sylosis are IMO the pinnacle of modern British metal and deserve recognition because of this.
Your turn...
