I quit football. I shouldn't have, but for some reason I wanted to. I just wanted to focus on my grades this year and everything, but I was the best lineman on the team (right tackle). Shit.
What's keeping me away is:
-Commitment to the game (which I don't think I'll be able to commit to with all the schoolwork I'll be getting)
-The conditioning. I only went to the gym twice a week during the summer so conditioning hurts like a bitch.
-It's my first year playing, so I don't know the plays, and as a tackle, I don't really know who to block on certain plays
-I kinda have stage fright with things like this. If I mess up in a game, I'll feel like shit.
-And I already quit. I think I'll look stupid coming back after one day of quitting and saying "Hey! I wanna play again!"
What makes me want to play again:
-All my friends play
-I was one of the best linemen
-It'll keep me in shape and make sure I don't slack off with my workouts.
-It was kinda fun minus the Indian Runs, Oklahoma drills, and foot buzzing.
-My school has one of the best (if not the best) football programs in the state.
-I like to hit stuff.
But like I said, I don't want to go back a day after quitting because I think that I'll look stupid.
I don't even know if they'll let me back on the team. This is how it happened. There's the main coach, who runs the whole football program, then there's other guys that coach different parts. I think it's 3 coaches per grade except for seniors because the varsity captains coach that. My friends want me to go back (especially the runningback since I was the a tackle/guard and damn good at it. )
He told me to think about it when I told him I was quitting, but I don't know if he meant right then or that I could come back if I wanted to.
I want to go back, but at the same time I don't...
Any advice?
