View Full Version : How I decided to tell my parents.

This whole community (or at least I think) knows of my sexuality. I've been on a 50-50 thought of whether or not of telling my parents directly. I chickened out and have decided to tell them through Facebook by making a photo album titled "All About Me". So far in this album I have put a picture of a guy holding up a sign that says "Closets are for Clothes." (Picture given credit to Kaius.)
The next photo is a picture of the Bisexual's Pride Flag. I have written amongst the picture, "This is who I am, This is who I will forever be."
I have yet to add more.
So, I guess you could say that I'm taking this in an indirect manner. But I still feel like it's a good thing to do.

Have they said anything about this yet, any questions regarding it?

Oh, okay. Well I guess this is a decent way to tell them, although I believe telling them directly is better.

I think this is an easier way to tell them than making a big deal of sitting down and having to say come out with "I'm bisexual." It sounds like something I would do if I ever had to come out. I hope it goes well for you. :) Just expect questions from your parents.
Also, I don't think there's a right or wrong way to tell them, as long as you feel comfortable with the way you're telling them than that's all that matters.

well, as long as they know about it.

Hope it all goes well. :)
Everyone has different ways of doing it, and I congratulate anyone who can do it. Everytime I think of doing it I chicken out, even when it's on the tip of my tongue and I then hate myself for not telling them, so I respect anyone who comes out. I genuinely hope it all goes OK for you.

That's a pretty creative way to tell them. Definitely more graceful than saying it bluntly over dinner. Have they mentioned it yet?

i think you should work up the courage to tell them yourselves. it will build your relationships together and it is much more respectable and it makes you look very confident and bold to be able to do it in person

That's creative. I'd probably tell my parents through a text or FaceBook or something, I'm not that brave. I actually don't even plan on telling them unless I fall for someone of the same gender.
Good for you! :D I hope they took it well.

Congratulations, I still don't have the guts to tell my parents, directly or indirectly. Hopefully it all goes well for you :)
