View Full Version : Do girls like skinny guys?

There's always lots of pressure on guys to be big and muscular in order for girls to like them. What do girls think about tall, skinny guys like me? I have a high metabolism, so I could eat 24/7 and not gain any weight.

Yeah, me too. I been working out at a gym for almost two months, and little to no results. I just started the Insanity work out routine, after 3 days, I can already see some results. If you want muscle, go for insanity. :P

I would prefer a more built guy, but that doesn't mean I would never date a thinner guy. Looks aren't what's most important anyway. If you have a good personality, it can easily make up for it, because it's much more important than muscle.

Hmm, I really wish this is true, somehow, it's not really working fine to everyone

skinny here . at age 14 most guys r skinny. when i 25 i could b a fat man - who knows.

I'm a guy but I know this from friends that are girls and my own interest. Girls I know and I like guys who are at a NORMAL weight. Skin and bones is... digusting. Overweight isn't bad. For me, muscular is gross.

I don't really care, or it doesn't bother me even, if a guy is skinny or not. if I like the person, I don't think it really matters if they're skinny or if they're muscly ect, just not to skinny and not too fat and not too muscly really, but it wouldn't at all bother me if the guy was skinny no, so I guess the answer to your question is: yes, girls like skinny guys but most don't care :P

My boyfriend is really built up, but I would go for a skinny guy any day. If I like their personality, then its not his fault that he's a stick figure.

My opinion on this is kind of invalid to both terms. I don't like stick thin guys, or guys with big bulky arms. I like guys with a little meat on their bones, but not over weight or packing a gut. I want to be able to cuddle without feeling bones against me, that's uncomfortable. Guys with big, bulky arms are uncomfortable to hug because they always seem to squeeze too hard, and i'm tiny. So, I like a guy that's about average. Taller is better, but not too tall. I want to be able to stand on my tiptoes to kiss someone, but not so they have to bend halfway over to kiss me back. So, really, neither of your options. :p

I've found that most women, if they had to choose, would prefer someone muscular over someone skinny, however it's not necessarily their ideal choice.
Like Eryka said (which I think encompasses most girls' opinion) would prefer to have someone with a little meat on their bones. They don't have to be a Taylor Lautner, but they shouldn't be unhealthy or frail. In other words I think the word we're all looking for here is ATHLETIC. Someone who is at a healthy weight for their height who displays some attractive level of fitness. I think most girls are satisfied with that.
However there are some girls I know (and this demographic seems to be increasing sadly) who will not even consider a guy if there's no muscle or visibility of a six pack. Earlier this year I was fed up with my looks and I gained about 15 pounds of muscle - and as much as I want to say it was for personal lifestyle changes towards fitness I can't say it honestly. In the back of my mind I know a large factor of doing that was to get girls attention. It makes me sad that A) that's all I needed for a girl to even consider glancing at me, and 2) that I would stoop to that level :/

I agree with you Artdude. Some girls in my friend group mention they find someone attractive, and the other girls in my friend group would say that he is not attractive because he has no muscle. Hearing people be so shallow gets me down.
To be fair, I am slightly shallow, but I would never talk about the 'attractive qualities' of girls in front of the girls in my friend group, as I absolutly hate it when girls talk about the attractive qualities of guys in front of me.
Any girls reading this, just take note (and boys as well).
I have also been working out recently, but only just realised that the only reaosn i'm doing it is to impress shallow girls.

I think everyone is shallow maybe some more than others but I mean no matter how good a girl/boyfriend they are there has to be some sort of physical attraction right?
I wouldn't mind dating a skinny guy xD I actually think their cute :3

I prefer guys to have some meat/muscle on their bones. Not fatness but not skin and bones either. I'm not trying to be mean & I'm not saying skinny guys are unattractive, it's just not what I personally like.

Here is a better question, do girls like fat guys? NO. Work out and be in sports if you want some nice muscles.

I'm fat and I have been asked out a number of times.
I'm not FAT FAT, fat fat fat, but I'm not skinny.
I'm 5"7, 210 pounds. So I'm not like super morbidly obese, I can still run, ride a bike, skateboard SOME(I don't, but I can ;p), I play hockey almost everyday.
I don't think looks are the most important thing. Does that mean I'll date someone who makes chewbacca run in fear for their personality? No.
But as long as your not UGLY, and have a GOOD personality, sure, why not?

Haven't you ever heard of chubby-chasers? Don't be so discriminate. That loses you respect. Some people can't help how much they weigh, and this is like you're saying they'll never be loved because of it. Some girls, most girls, actually care about someone because of how they are, not how much they weigh. If I were to find an extremely nice guy that was over-weight, I'm sure I wouldn't be like "Lose weight or I won't love you". Get some respect.

I know several guys who probably eat TOO much because they're not comfortable being skinny. I've seen one get sick from overeating...and guys are always using steroids or eating tons of protein at school. I think it's sad that there are such unattainable ideals for body image....for guys and girls. I'm not disgustingly skinny, and I do play sports, but I'm never happy with my body. I guess it's the opposite of female anorexia for some guys. They always think they need to be bigger, even if they're in the normal weight range to begin with. Nothing is ever good enough for lots of people.
There are lots of shallow girls. It's true that many guys discriminate based on weight, but girls do it just as much. I guess it just doesn't get as much attention on tv and stuff because male eating disorders are perceived to be less common. I think they're just less obvious.
Bleh, I dunno. People make me mad sometimes.

you absolutely nailed it. Seriously that was perfectly said. There is so much media attention on girls' image issues but never do we see it with boys. And never do we see girls get criticized for their discrimination based on muscle or weight, yet guys are constantly criticized for wanting a 'skinny' girl. It's a sad world we live in :/

As long as the guy is super sweet, and not like 300 pounds overweight, then I'm totally fine dating him.

I'm pretty big guy myself, though over the past few months I've kinda gained quite a few pounds so I'm bigger than usual. But that hasn't really effected anything. Girls still tell me I'm cute so it not all bad but I'm still going to workout and lose the weight I've gained, also get back into weight lifting.
