My dog is going to have to be put down.

He's quite aggressive to other people and he's bitten people such as my cousin and my gran when he was a bit over playful.

So we went to the vet about this and the only option she said was to either re home him or to have him put to sleep.

Now my mum and dad have rung round to the RSCPA etc but no one wants him so the only other option is to have him put down.

I'm very much against it because i love him to pieces and don't want to see him go but it looks like it's going to happen.

He's going to be put down during the week or next weekend.

Is there anything i can do to make my parents change their mind or should i just let it be?

Thanks very much for reading.

You're just going to have to let it be.

The dog sounds dangerous. It's not good to have biting dogs.

Sorry :(

yeah it looks like ur parents have no other choice
although they could try dog classes for agressive dogs but it sounds like they are done trying with the dog, but ask them about it and see what they say

If they're willing to keep trying, there are obedience schools, and you could even try Cesar Millan, though there's no guarantee he'd chose your case. You can bring these options up to them. Otherwise, savor every last minute you've got with him.

Or;

try reading Paul lobes book "smarter than you think" or "heart of the matter"
it teaches dogs in only 3 hours, and it worked for my dog,
(although she's not aggressive, she's more of shy,but there are cases of aggressive dogs that immanently change, still, she did learn fast)

And one thing I got from it; if he starts being aggressive throw some object (size matters, and only one) than see what he does, the thing is he won't fight back because he can't compete with you,so if he stops tell him how good he is,

and that stops it

its simple really

Just to let you know he was put down today at 6.00pm GMT. I'm devastated but i guess it was for the best.

I'm terribly sorry for your loss.

Dogs can be tricky like that. You can love the hell out of them despite what they're capable of and how they act around others.

At this point you can remember your dog for what you want to remember him for, rather than the pressure others put on you about his aggression.

And regardless of the aggressive traits that some dogs show, you can never make up for the loyalty that a dog has for its master. It is truly unmatchable.

I guess the only thing you can do now is just remember your time with him, dogs are brilliant animals and i'm sure you had some great times with him, concentrate on those times and remember him in a good light
