Hi All,
The other week i had my first drags of a cigarette, even though it tasted weird i actually wouldn't mind doing it again.
Tonight i'm meeting up with my boyfriend and a few others and my boyfriend smokes and next week he gives me some more cigarettes and i'll have some tonight too .
Theres not much harm in just doing it now and again is there?
I'm not addicted i just like it, not all the time just when it's available to me.
I'm just scared someone will find out.

now and again... starts out a couple times a month, turns into a few times a week, and ends up a few times a day. I highly recommend against it.

For fuck's sake, stop now before you get hooked. Nicotine is incredibly addictive and I don't know why the hell tobacco is still legal when so much other less harmful things are illegal. There are also the aspects of your health that you'll screw over (all of which were known about by tobacco companies in the 60s / 70s).

Seriously, this is advice from an ex-smoker of tobacco, stop now.

u can't possibly be addicted yet it takes more then one smoke to get addicted
but u shud stop. im a smoker and now i have serious health problems because of it and i am also ahsmatic so if i were u i would stop while ur ahead of yourself so u don't end up dying of cancer or other serious things. and besides do u even know what ur smoking aside from nicotine and tar. there is paint thinner, rat poison, and other poisonous things that are harmful. i would seriously reconsider smoking again
do some research

It's perfectly possible to get addicted on one cigarette, there's no 'set' amount of nicotine needed to start an addiction.

Smoking is a very nasty habit. When I smoked for the first time, I loved the dizzy feeling I got. I loved how it made me relax. It was just a great feeling, but as I started to make it a more frequent thing, that's when it went down hill and then $150 a month later, I just got sick and tired of HAVING to smoke. NEEDING to have a drag because i was sad, angry, depressed or just when i felt like it. It makes you smell, and for being underage it's not exactly legal. If I were you, I would stop while you're still ahead. It's a shitty and expensive habit. I hope everything works out.

By time you will get addicted.

Firstly you will find it interesting, as i did. And you will practice it with friends most of the time, sharing their cigarettes. Then you will buy your first cigarettes. It will take maybe a month to your body get addicted to nicotine, and at that period you will experience nausea for a few days, and after that you will be fully addicted to nicotine. Till that it will be just a habit, which will get more common after that period. And then you are fucked up. :D It will be more difficult to leave them. As I am. I have tried two times for two days each, to leave them by doing all kinds of things, to reduce my habit and spend my time, but by the second day the addiction need is getting very big and i decided to proceed with smoking.

I don't give a shit now for leaving, even i know it is bad.
After that 1 month you will start enjoy the cigarettes, with pleasure. Maybe that is the best thing.
But there is a lot of bad effects in other hand.
I feel more weak now, I try to stay in form, but it is difficult, even it is possible.

So, be careful, they would give you a lot of pleasure, but also reduce your strength.

For yours at home, that is your choice, and it depend on them. I do not have any problem with my parents for smoking. I do smoke at home, but not in front of them. But maybe that is the worst thing it happened to me, because now i do not care, and I can smoke as much as I want, and that's bad, because i sometimes smoke more than it is "normal". Once i got nicotine poisoning :D

Be careful.

4 could be nothing, but if you proceed, the number will change. I smoke 20-25 a day. And for the first 4 months i have smoked about 35-40 a day, which is toooooo much.
And some days i can go only with 10-15. It depends.

If you like it, try to stick that only when you go out, for evenings, but not more than 2-3.

If you buy, buy just 2-3 cigarettes, don't know if in your country that's common, but don't buy a whole package of 19-20. wanted or not those will be smoked :D

Try not to smoke. Or be careful, and try less, if you are willing to.

Take my advice while you can. I am a smoker, and I tell you its not something you want to get addicted to. It makes you stink (the smell is hardly a problem), it ages your skin, it makes you unfit, when you smoke a cigarette you are rougly inhaling 0.7/8 mg of carbon monoxide and 0.7/8 mg of tar also. Not to mention there is also 0.8 mg of nicotine in a cigarette. It becomes a craving then it turns to an addiction and it is seriously highly addictive. Also it could give you lung cancer in the future. It costs around £5-6 for a packet of 20 cigs and they aernt even worth the money but its an addiction, and trying to quit is really really hard, because you are just so tempted to smoke when there are people around you smoking and you end up taking a cigarette and then you end up staying addicted. So if you have any sense at all you wont start smoking regularly.

Yeah its a total waste of money, it would be so much better if cigarettes cost that much in Britain. I didnt mention that it costs around £2-3 for a pack of 10 cigs.

Dont even pick up one more! I said to myself I wasnt addicted when I first started at 13. Now I'm 17 and I smoke 1 1/2 packs a day. Trust me even though you may do it once in a while your still doing it putting nicotine into your system. If you dont want to turn into me I would stop NOW.

Yea you think you're not addicted, you can give up whenever you want, but you won't be able to soon trust me, and all the others who have already said it, take a hint!
And the price is ridiculous (depending where you live) it could cost you a hell of a lot and if you only scrounge them off other people then they won't appreciate it much

I know, i really get it. Yesterday i really wanted one, but i didn't go out and just stayed in.
I would like more, i like it yes but i'm goin to try not to take it, even if it is offered for free as it has been a few times.

Can I advocate for a slightly different perspective? I'm currently a non-smoker and just started my freshman year of college. As I'm around plenty more smokers now, the will to say no is getting tougher. Additionally, I have friends who really can only smoke sporadically. Is this just good self-control? Something lucky with their body chemistry?

Thanks,
Joey

I smoke cigs ocassionally, but I've been called a freak of nature for still never smoking any more frequently after years. Both of my parents and most of my friends smoke.

Ugh cigs are the worst, loaded with chemicals and addictive as hell, youre better off smoking fresh pipe tobacco or possibly some herbal blends, I used to smoke around four cigs a day but after a few months i just cant stand the taste now so i dont really smoke cigs anymore, for the better though

If you smoke it through a bong or something maybe, but smoking plain tobacco without filters is pretty bad for your lungs.
