Just a quick poem I wrote in a few minutes. I haven't revised it or anything, and it was quick, so its longer and a bit rough. Do critique please :]

Silly Little Bird

Around it flutters,
My tender heart,
Careless, like a baby bird,
On fresh, delicate wings.

Do be careful,
All it wants,
Is a little love,
Sweet and pure.

Gentle now,
Hold it soft.
Cradle it with your love,
And never let go.

‘Round and round it goes,
Seeking, but never finding,
Naïve,
And looking in all the wrong places.

Suddenly, it sees you
And your charm draws it in,
I try to stop it,
But no avail.

My mind knows better,
Experienced,
Eagle on stable wings,
Broken, repaired, cautious.

But the silly little bird,
So young.
You catch it with your soft hands,
And it settles in its home.

But what is this?
An iron cage
My mind was right
Let it free.

You kick the cage, drop it, abuse,
And though the bird attacks the bars
And rattles the cage
It has not the courage to pick the lock.

Along comes a gentle boy,
Hands cupped,
Ready to receive this delicate little bird.
He unlocks it and lets it free.

Has its savior come?
It flutters to his gentle hands,
Cautious,
Damaged by the rough cage.

But he merely toys with it
Teasing it,
The tender bird,
Then lets it free.

But he has broken its wings
With his carelessness
It cannot fly
To find another.

Cowering, cold and alone
On the harsh ground,
A shadow comes up on it
Looming...

It reaches down, with shadowed hands
Soft are cruel?
It knows not.
It can only trust, that this one is it.
