So, again, I was laying down on my bed. I ate a "brownie" if you know what I mean :). And I was thinking about the placebo effect and how our bodies work. I mean, it's like we have this super advanced computer (which is our body), but we never got the manual to the computer. So all we do is stay in one little file when we have the rest of the folder and the hard drive to discover.

I remember my mom's friend came over and I asked him how he's doing and he said that he had back pain and something's wrong. I asked him if he was ok and he said "Yeah I'm fine, I'm going to a healer and he's fixing it for me." And he went on to explain the rocks and stuff that they put on you and I actually believed it. But now that I come to think about it, it fits in perfectly with what I said above. If you BELIEVE that it's working (even if it isn't), your body will MAKE it work.

Also, I remember now that I think about it that there was an episode of House when a guy was "sick" on a plane, and then everyone "caught" the "Sickness". It turns out, it was just because he was scuba diving and something about the pressure changes made him in a lot of pain. And once everyone was told that it wasn't contagious, they all magically got better because they were never sick to begin with.

What I want to know is, WHY is it that we can't trigger the placebo effects on our own? Why if we get a cut can we not heal it, but if we THINK someone is healing it, even if they're not, our body can heal us.

The whole thing just blows my mind. Anyone else have opinions on it?

Because your sub concious knows that your just trying to fool yourself, but if someone tells you and you can believe it then i think you can work the rest out yourself :P

Yeah, I know that, but it's just amazing to me that the body is capable of doing that if it really believes that it's happening. Kindaa makes me wonder whether or not ANYTHING is real or if our body is controlling everything that happens

The subconcious can do a lot of things. Did you know that if a memory is forgotten, and you try to recall it, your mind will make a placeholder memory until it can find the right one.

The other night i was trying to remember why i opened my window last night (my mom was talking about how it wastes air-conditioning) and i told her "It was really hot last night, so i opened my window." but then i remembered later that my brother had sprayed an obnoxious amount of AXE in my room, and i opened my window so i wouldn't get sick from the fumes

I just really don't understand though why our body is capable to do such extreme things but only in the right circumstances. Like adrenaline rushes. People have lifted helicopters and boulders and cars before to save people. It's like we COULD have super strength, and heal ourselves, and read eachother's minds, but our body won't let us unless it wants to

directly links back to your Primeal intincts i guess, life is about survival and if we where for example without our body natural reflexes leaving your concious self protect yourself, you'd just be fucked.

our bodies are "designed" to keep us alive so if a really good source tells us something our bodies will react as if its true which is why the placebo effect works
