I noticed that I changed a lot since I was in grade school
When I think of it
before 3rd grade I was like a live wire
I am always talking and really noisy
but then after 3rd grade I became the quiet and shy type of person
I would even say slightly gothic
someone even asked me if I'm emo bacause my voice is so low and I sound bored
I think this would be related to the passing of my mother but I doubt it would affect me this much
Any help?
First of all, I'm VERY sorry for your loss of your mother. Losing a parent - especially a mother, who you share a very strong maternal bond with - can be traumatizing, even if you don't realize it.
Have you ever talked to a counselor or therapist about your concerns? Talking to someone can REALLY help. It lets you get things off of your chest, and also reassures you that you're not alone and that you're not "abnormal".
During the years of puberty and adolescence, your body goes through a LOT of changes (obviously), but so does your mind. And if you're going through these changes before your peers, you can often feel "alone" and like you're on an island all by yourself.
Having a place like Virtual Teen to come talk about these types of things with others who are going through the exact same thing will be really helpful for you.
When you're feeling down, just know two things:
1) Your mom is still with you and is watching over you
2) You're no different than anyone else.....you've just beaten them all in the race to adulthood!!! :yeah:

Hey thanks for that
for me I find that talking to my friends is the best kind of counseling I can get
and my talks with some of my teachers help too
I try not to think of my mother's passing as something bad
I just wonder why I'm so quiet

Well I wouldn't say that the death of your mother is the only reason that you've changed how you behave and basically who you are. That event will have a very strong effect on your life, if you realise it or not.
I'm tempted to say that your hormones will have a lot to do with the change. The passing of your mother is just another contributing factor that's happened at an awkward time in your life.

I was kind of the same way. I was picked on for being bubbly in elementary school, I also had a testosterone imbalance. Anyways, I built up a shy front, and I only get bubbly and confident and charismatic around people I trust, IDK if it is apart of my personality, or just the way I am around people. :P You might just have calmed down to answer your question.

Puberty changes a guy mentally and emotionally as well. And I am very sorry about your mother. And maybe that is the reason why. A close parent passing can be a huge traumatizing experience.
