Ok I think this is the right place for this. Earlier today I was basically verbally abused on Xbox Live. Some of you may think this is odd, but this really sunk in for me. I was talking with two people I have never met before in my life. It got on like normal, they asked me if my mother worked, I said no (she stays home), they then proceeded to tell me that she was a "whore" because she didnt work. They then asked me if my dad worked, I said yes because he does. They proceeded to tell me that im a poor that should be living on the streets and called me some other colorful names that I shouldnt repeat. The called me a faggot and a man-whore, for no reason. This has been going on for days now, and Im wondering how I can prevent this.

I don't know about Xbox live. But, if you want to do anything, you just cut of the communication.

I know - People like you and me are addicted to games or Internet, they start to take things out seriously. I am sure you are not the guy who likes to cuss the hell out of other people. For this, the best thing is to cut of any means of communication, play offline, play with people with good repute.

About those biznitches? Fuck'em, just forget about them.

Its xbox live it happpen all the time, but if it proceeds write down there screen names and u can report them to the police or to xbox. They can be charged for cyber bullying and other crimes tht i wont go into detail. See if u can recored the conversations thn u have proof. hope this helps.

simply either don't use xbox live or make a new account so they don't know who you are. or save these conversations and give them to the police. they can track these ppl's userames right down to their addresses and they can be charged because this my friend is harassment. so u have to make the ultimate choice here.

Simply go on their profiles and select "block communications."

Report them... You can do that on XBOX Live. Plus, everyone on Live is rude, racist and immature- most of them, anyway.

I say don't take it personally, because you're better than that.

What I want to do though is personally tell Microsoft about this Via E-mail, instead of the lousy complaint system

If it was me which I did in most of my online game, find a list of sentences to bombard them back. Be a man, f*** the as* out of them.

The complaint system DOES work, specially if they send you voice and/or text messages saying this kind of things. Simply file a complaint, and add them to your ignored players list. You could also call Xbox Support, but as far as I know, they don't handle these cases through phone support, and they won't tell you if/when they take any actions against the ones guilty, but they will more than likely get banned from LIVE for some time.

A lot of cyber bullies can be defined as "Internet Trolls". These are people who derive pleasure from upsetting anonymous people over any kind of internet connection. They invade chatrooms, forums, social networking sites and of course Xbox Live matches. The best thing you can do is to ignore them- it's an obvious answer but the troll feeds more on reaction than even your typical school bully. If the problems persist, you need to obtain their IP Addresses or possibly find out their real names (although trolls don't usually reveal their identities- after all what they are doing is illegal) and from there contact the Police or FBI. Trolls just like to get people mad, and the most important thing is to NOT LOSE YOUR COOL. The troll "wins" his silly little game if you get mad, and with angry responses he will feel satisfied and continue until he is through prodding at you.

Then, there are just assholes. I run into em all the time on WiFi games, that's why I don't usually do online play except for games without mics (like Mario Kart Wii- though there's still cheaters and snakers on there :0) because then people can't pester you.

So, you got insulted by a couple of guys who obviously have no lives, and are so bored with themselves that they have to go on xbox live and insult people like complete morons. And they think there's something wrong with you? Wow...

As cliche as it might sound, ignoring is always the best solution.

I happen to moderate an unrelated forum. I constantly advise certain users not to feed into such blatant troll attempts, and in spite of my warnings, they do so and continue to be a target for trolls.

Yeah, definitely this. People on the Internet are often dicks. The far more concerning thing is that you actually care about what they think/say. Ignore it!

That as everyone has said, are trolls who have no life and get some bizzare kick out of insulting people, i doubt telling Microsoft will do much, the internet isnt easy to police and frankly it wont stop them. They're just idiots who wouldnt say a word to anyones face, but will quite happily insult people over the internet. I understand that their remarks can be upsetting, and hard to ignore but its not even worth the upset, the more they know it hurts the more they do it
