Alright, so I have been working at the same place for about a year now. I have been working my butt off... And I know my boss realizes this because he tells me how good of a job I do every time I work... Yet, every time I mention a raise from minimum he changes the subject. Now last time I ask, he changed the subject... And now he is giving me less hours, like one day a week.

So my question is, what should I do to regain my hours, and how can I get him to give me a raise? And what are some tips for teens asking for raises?

If he wont listen to you when you talk why not try writing him a letter and asking for the raise.... tell him why you think you deserve and how much you like working for the company.

Well, I can tell you this much, asking for a raise never does anything. I work two jobs and what I learned it consistency. They like constant work ethic, hustle, quality. Make sure everyday you come to work prepared and never a complaint. When i worked at Starbucks I got a raise every 6 months. It varies from company to company. I work for two fortune 500 corporations and they have an hourly based pay. Which means however many hours you work that's what you get paid.

It all depends from place to place how much you get paid, but rule of thumb
never ask how much you're getting paid or when you get a raise. As they want to see loyalty, consistency, be humble and have humility. It will all pay off. Trust me I've been working for some ball busting employers, I know exactly how you feel man.

It's lucky that you're in a situation where you can sk for a raise, most companies dish out company-wide raises only, and tbh i agree with what the tohers are saying. Consistency is what you need, perhaps hint that you have anough time to do more hours and that you can help out whenever.
But the decision ultimately lies with him or his superiors and if it's not in their best interests then it's not going to get done. Sorry that's life

Thanks for the advice guys, I actually went to the owner of the business today, a family friend of my parents, and just as fast as I lost my hours I gained them back lol. The next step is taking you advice and just keep working and hopefully it will pay off.
