yeah i get this all the bloody time, there may be a reason why it happens though, perhaps you should see a doctor about it.

There can be a lot of reasons from stress to being sensitive to chemicals (laundry detergent residue on the pillow cases affects me) to eating too late, which keeps the blood sugar high, etc.

Melatonin tablets may help in the short term (melatonin is produced by the brian to induce sleep), but if it persists you should talk to your doctor because he deals with this all the time from many people.

Why is that the standard response for like every question on this site?

I used to have loads of trouble sleeping when I first went to bed, I'd lie awake for a few hours then sleep for a few then wake up again until it was time to get up. I'm not sure what caused it to stop but I'm fine now. See what other people say, maybe they can put a cause to the problem.

Safety. Sometimes the little things mentioned here are indicative of bigger things.

@OP: It happens, especially when you can sleep during the day. You can try forcing yourself to stay up during the day and sleep at night. If it works, problem solved. If not, hopefully school will help you get your schedule back in rhythm. If, by the time you're in school for a couple of week, nothing has changed, a doc is really your best bet.

Yeah, I have really bad insomnia. I get around 1-2 hours of sleep everyday. I don't know why, but I don't have any other effects. I guess I just don't need that much sleep. It's really great for when I'm studying for school though. :D

Yeah I'm the same way with you but I don't have practice in the morning for my sport tho. It could be stress and what not too but I'd see a doctor if I was you. Insomnia also can be helped by fixing your diet and what not to. We learned a lot about it in my AP Psych class. I take sleeping pills when it's too hard for me to sleep but I don't like taking them for many reasons. Try taking and OTC pill called melatonin, it's awesome and it also it natural. You body makes it
