I like the picture, but I despise the idea behind it.

Otherwise, she's got it.

Good drawing but the flag is still associated with hate.

Technically speaking, the picture is nicely done, but the coloring is not very good: pencil strokes are very visible on the flag while the colored pencil layer on most flowers seem to have blended the contour lines in a bad way.

On the symbolic side, I think it has a very negative charge - associating a skull and the Confederate flag on a layer of roses sends a questionable message to the viewer.

Good drawing but the flag is still associated with hate.

The Confederate Flag was technically the battle flag for the Confederates. Associating it with hate isn't really a good idea. It's just a flag a bunch of pissed off rednecks made so their people wouldn't be firing at the wrong person.

The drawing is good; I just don't like the color. It just seems off to me.

Well everything in there is what I request, the flag is obviously southern pride/ represents the Confederate States of America, the skull is for the brave men who fought and died for it. And the roses were her touch and I'm pretty sure they represent our relationship

i love the roses, they look so real, although as seen the message can be interpretated the wrong way i guess, only thing is the colouring, other than that it's amazing.

Confederate States of America? They no longer exist. hun check your history... you may be of the South, but the only true Americans are the Native Americans which have been fighting terrorism since 1672 xp. Otherwise your "heritage", came accross a boat which makes your heritage European. I truely dont' understand why people still show this flag.. they are Americans.. . United States of America, not segregated. showing the flag is like showing seperation, and well.. they lost... so it's not relaly something to be proud of. Not to mention why they sepertated in the first place, because of hate which is just horrible..

But on a more positive note, she did an excellent job even though i don't exactly like what it stands for.

Oh gosh
People are seriously still waving around the Confederate flag?
There are much better ways to show off your Southern pride, the state flag maybe?
The only heritage that flag really represents is a history of racism, bigotry, prejudice, a schism within the country that literally has "united" in it's name, and the bloodiest war in American history that was simply a fight with ourselves

There is a certain amount of valor in dying in combat, fighting for a cause, but such massive causualties should only be mourned for useless deaths, not celebrated for fighting.

And people who run around saying the south will rise again are protesting a defeat that happened 150 years ago :p
Just let it go

EDIT: Though the art itself is quite good, tell your girlfriend to keep working at it ^__^
