Should spitting on someone lead to more jail time than physically attacking them
Spitting is considered worse than attacking someone physically. So in the criminal justice system should spitting on a person lead to more than jail time than physically hurting someone? Does whether disease is spread or not matter? What about physical attacks that require medical attention of any type?

I've never heard of spitting being considered worse than assault.
Broken bones and bad cuts are much worse than a momentary gross-out, and should be treated that way by law.

Spitting really isn't enforced where I am, you're not going to get any jail time let alone more than someone actually being assaulted.
About the disease thing, unless they forced you down and spit in your mouth I doubt that would happen and even so, I don't think the person is going to get hard time because you had to get over a cold.

no way....I might be disgusted if someone spat on me but they shouldn't go to jail for that longer if they physically attacked me

As offended, and upset I would feel if I was spit on, no. I don't think it deserves jail time.
It's disrespectful, but I'd consider it a type of hate speech, or indecent gester. Like flicking your nail out from your lateral incisor.

Some say that spitting is worse because it is degrading and show complete contempt for a person. They say that spitting tells the person they are beneath them and not worse being attacked physically.

I couldn't care less for society's view of what spitting on someone means. Saying "I hate you" isn't illegal, and since spitting seems to carry the same message I wouldn't consider it illegal either. When it's all said and done it's just saliva, nothing more. You could make a civil suit out of it but not a criminal case.

Well said, this is all there is to it.
