Today we had a house fire and one of my friends went in and pulled out a girl. She was only about 6 or 7 she had burns on her legs and chest area. She had heavy smoke inhalation. She had no pulse so I started CPR. I worked on her for 20 minutes. But no pulse, I cant get this out of my head and she looked just like my little cousin I cant get the image out of my head. I feel horrible that i couldnt save her. What can i do to feel better? I feel like I never want to go to the fire station in fear of seeing that again. Can you guys help me. Thanks guys

We all get this way after seeing someone die. In the public safety career (EMS, Fire Fighting, Law Enforcement) you will see it a lot, so if its not something you can handle or get over, you may want to find a different career.
And if you are still thinking about this non stop after a day or two you may want to speak with a counselor or mental health professional.

Im so sorry to hear that :( Working as a fireman is always gonna be hard with stuff like this, you couldn't save her but it's all you could do ok :) You shouldn't blame yourself try to listen to music or talk to someone about it maybe they will give you better advice cause im quite rubbish.
:) :) :) and please don't blame yourself for this, you did all you could and I think you are really brave and quite amazing for trying to save her :)

Not sure I can help you, but at least you tried very hard to save her life, which i think you should be proud of. Death happens, and I suppose you just need to move on.
I saw an old lady die on a bus once. It was quite a busy bus, and co-incidently the bus was just passing through the hospital when she had a heart attack, and there was a doctor on the bus, who pronounced her dead, but she was rushed into the hospital as well just in case. I did absolutley nothing! It wasn't so bad, as there were plenty of people helping her including a doctor, and i'm not sure what I could have done. But, I will always have it in my mind that I did nothing.
There are quite a lot of people who wouldn't have done anything to help save that girl. And if they wanted to, mant people would just panic and not know what to do to help, so its great that there are people like you around!

I know these things happen but I just feel like I could have done more for her. And the thing that really gets to me is that she looked like my little cousin who is around the same age

id hate to be in your place.
my dad was once sitting on his porch when this woman came by, running and shouting "i cant take this anymore! ill throw myself in front of the train!" you shoulda seen people as they stared after that women. but did they help her? nope. however my dad quickly ran after her. she was already on the tracks but my dad took her off. the train came 3 mins later.
thats a story hes told me many times. think about it. though the woman didnt die, it was close.& everyone else didnt care.
