Why 1 month old theads are closed? A lot of them were still discussed frequently but they were closed. And the locked threads are not put into archives and we open the same thread again to discuss the topic further and it makes a lot of crowd.

People don't always pay attention to old threads so they make new ones. Good examples are penis discussion threads in P101. So after a month and about 100 are made after that one, what is the point of having that? Multiple threads about same subject is pointless once an OP has it's answer then there is no point in reiterating the same info.

I think Ron's pretty much answered it. As for the archives we do that every few months in bulks.

There's a lot more to locking threads then just how old they are. Sometimes older threads stay open if they are quite active or still relevant. Also the different sections have a longer bump date to them.

Tom has covered it basically.
Sub forums like Education & Careers has a longer bump date than P101, it all depends of how relevant the topic is and how popular the forum is.

Hmm... I still sometimes see threads from 2005 floating around. They weren't locked. Nobody had posted since then either. The moderator of Tech Junkie's paradise should really archive some....

The only archive is for P101. All the other forums expect people to be responsible and not bump threads.

Or you could just not post in them.
