Does he like me?

So I'm taking a month long acting class, and there's this kid in my class I get along with really well. His name is Hector, but I don't like him in that kind of a way.
We spend a lot of time together since the class is four hours a day, 5 days a week, and he's really kind. He's 18 (I'm 16), and he also models.. so I really enjoy talking about that with him since it's something we have in common. From the moment I met him I wasn't sure about his sexuality, but I didn't care so much.
Since the performance is coming up a lot of the kids from the class (including myself) went to Hector and Lily (his friends) apartment to watch a movie which shares the same theme as part of our performance. When we were walking there he was always by my side, not that that means he's gay, and we talked about another kid in the class who we had just found out way gay. He seemed to make a big deal out of him being gay, like they were aliens. But he doesn't have anything against them. So that's why I think he might be straight. But when we were watching the movie I stretched my legs and he did also and put them very close to mine.. I didn't mind.
Later during rehearsals he looked at me a lot, and did so for longer than usual periods of time. Then when we were on the stages wings he put his hand on my back and left it there for a while. This is when I started getting a little confused. After we were done rehearsing, the director wanted us to meet in the front of the stage to review the scenes. A girl was sitting next to me, but she stood up an left (I think to get something quickly) when he saw the space open up he quickly went to sit next to me, and made it so that his leg was touching mine (in a non-obvious way). Then in dance he looked at me a lot too.......
Is he just touchy and likes me a lot as a friend, or is he trying to subtly express his feelings for me? Opinions?

I don't know, it's hard to say. Watch his eyes and see if the size of his pupils change when he looks at you. Your body does that when it sees something arousing. So you might be able to tell if he thinks you are sexy.

I say you should consider if he does like you, maybe give him a shot. Nobody has to know and he looks like he might really care about you. But if you don't want to try that because you don't have feelings (or you are str8 and want to keep it that way) then let him like you but don't let that be an excuse to lose a friendship.

It really does not sound like anything he is doing is "gay". I personally think he is probably just touchy, I am like that too. :P You might just want to ask him, you might confuse yourself if you just keep trying to decode little things like that. :D

So let me tell you a story.
It is english drama club in our school and the boy needs to say " You should have called me." But the boy is saying call, like a "cal of caliber" and our teacher says ( In turkish, call ( kol ) means "arm" ) "Come on, say call! You can remember it from your arm!" So when the boy says "You should have called me" and touches my arm.
From that day forth, whenever he is in a proximity of a meter next to a boy ( bad grammar? ) he touches his arm. Most of people thinks he is gay but he is not.
Maybe similliar situation over there?

I really like him, but I don't want to give him a shoot because first I'm not the fooling around kind of a person, second I'm in Mexico and I leave soon and if for some reason I developed feelings for him I would be very hurt during and after my departure, and third I might regret it.
I would rather not ask him because that could make our relationship awkward if he is or isn't.
And no, he doesn't touch anyone in any of his scenes. And he's not too touchy with everyone else; a little but not as much. Thanks for the responses though.

Well, because I think it's important to know peoples feelings and intentions in order to act accordingly , and because he's also my friend and if he has feelings I want to know. I wouldn't act awkward, I used to do that but I had to get used to it. But I don't believe it's pointless or harmful to want to know someones feelings about you.
