So, should the 14th amendment be appealed?

For those of you who don't know what the 14th Amendment is, it basically says if you're born in America, regardless if your parents' are citizens or not, you have U.S. citizenship.

I don't really have an opinion on this matter because I dunno. I don't know what to say for either side.

well that's where your born so yea. My mum was born in New Zealand when my grandparents where holidaying there and my granda had to apply her for British citizenship when they got back home, since it was atomatically New Zealand at the time.

The 14th amendment is so important to modern american politics that it CAN'T be repealed. The due process and equal protection clauses are the basis for so many modern laws and supreme court rulings that if it were repealed, the framework of government itself could be permanently weakened.

Sure, that's fine and dandy. But if you're a first generation american, then you should have a right to decide on your citizenship later in life, or at least have dual citizenship if your home country allows it.
