View Full Version : How many hours of sleep is enough?

I read somewhere (forgot where lol) that said adolescents need more sleep. I get only about 5 hours of sleep every night (except on weekends, which is like 12 :D). Anyway I personally don't think 5 hours is really enough, but I'm not tired during the day, probly cuz its summer. So... how many hours of sleep should I be getting? I'm 14, btw. Thanks!

Anywhere between 7 and 9 hours is healthy for teenagers.

seven to nine is good enough, I got a lot of sleep, in fact I think I get too much. one time I slept at 10 and woke up at 10 am. that's twelve hours >_<
@Deathwing - you should get more. 4 hours is wayy too little.

In summer, maybe 6 to 7 hours, in winter I tend to sleep at least an hour more

I think around 8 is enough for a teen.

7,8, and 9 hours are probably recommended. i read somewhere that teens overall need more sleep than adults because of the changes occuring in our bodies. sleep helps those changes!!!

alright im not big on sleep because of my nightmares but during school i get an average of probably 20 hours of sleep a week not getting good sleep makes your heart rate go up shortening your life. hope this helps as well

I personally get about 8 hours of sleep during school year, and around 5 in the summer.. but if u don't catch up on some sleep, then you can weaken your immune system. Thus causing you to get sick easier

I've read that you're supposed to get between 7 and 10 hours of sleep each night.
I don't sleep for more than 5 hours, hell I'm lucky if I even manage that.

for me i like to sleep late -- but normal 4 me is like 6 to 8 hours. i stay up late almost every night. but get 6 hours to 8. no more than 8.
