View Full Version : Why Jews?

I still find it extremely sad that the Jewish cemetery near my house had to have a wrought iron fence with gnarly spikes put up around it, and that the gates have to always be locked now, because people kept going in there and vandalizing it.
I really don't understand why there has been so much hatred for Jewish people throughout history, which even still seems to linger today. I mean, the Egyptians enslaved them, the Romans persecuted and ostracized them, the Nazis tried to exterminate them, etc... I don't understand it at all.
Why are they so hated? It doesn't make sense... :(

Jews have always been considered "unpurified" Christians. They're a historically hated religion, it's quite sad really.

I am not entirely sure why antisemitism came about originally either. It certainly has been a long lasting form of hatred.
The Jewish people have often been used as a scapegoat countless times over the course of history, such as causing the Black Death and the collapse of the powerful German empire. There is also the antisemitic belief that Jews were the driving force behind the rise of Communism and planned on achieving global domination. And of course numerous stereotypes and prejudices such as the notorious 'covetous Jew' have existed for centuries and have given rise to discrimination.
There is also the belief that Jews were responsible for the death of Jesus Christ, which is probably the biggest reason why antisemitism exists so strongly, even today. It's a very old form of discrimination, and the current Israeli-Palestinian conflict isn't exactly helping with the diminishment of it.

Christians like to think that Jews killed Jesus, even though it was kinda the Romans who crucified him. But y'know, it's kinda hard to hate a race that is extint...

Jews have been hated for centuries. Christians seem to think that it was the Jews who killed Jesus, when it was really the Romans who committed the act (from memory, it was the Sanhedrin that captured Jesus, who then brought him to the Pharisees, etc.. I think we know the story).
Is the cemetery located near or around a ghetto? That might be the problem too.

Well, in Islam, after Moses was called by Allah ( or God ) Jewish people builded a statue and worshipped it. Then Allah put a curse on them that whereever they went in the world, they would be outcast because they denied there was a single God.
Anyway, another reason was they were rich. In medieval era, Jews were merchants and people envied them.
And in Ottoman era, we provided both Jews and Christians a good life in Ottoman Empire. Jews really liked us because Christians disliked them and Jews became trusted sipes for Ottomans, and ruined European armies lol.
By the way, in our belief, Jesus Christ wasn't killed by Jews. After Allah saw Jesus was enthreatend, he called him back to heaven and people who killed Jesus killed his decoy eventually.
Of course, this is actually no place to discuss religious matters

That's dumb. Jews aren't the only people to deny that.

You're thinking of the golden calf from when Moses brought the Ten Commandments down from Mount Sinai. They lost faith in Moses and God, so they built a golden calf when Moses was on the mountain talking to God. When Moses came down from the mountain, he threw the tablets on the calf which made the statue disintegrate.

that is actually slightely incorrect. it is an argument between the great rabbis in the time of the gemera if he threw them or he lost strength and droped them in awe to wat happened. and if he did thro them, it wasnt on the statue. Hashem destroyed it

What does the fact it is jewish really have to do with it. People vandalize things, even if it was because it is jewish well it happens too graveyards of all varieties not just jewish. You simply care about this one because you're jewish and you live near it which means you would have a very narrow view of this situation.

Many many societies and races have been enslaved and discriminated against throughout time not just jews. There is nothing really to understand just that man was destructive towards that which they were not throughout history (not in all cases but a fair few)
Why are they so hated? It doesn't make sense... :(
Because they are human as everyone else and everyone makes enemies

Well, we turkish people loved Jews because Turks and Jews had lived peacefully in Ottoman Era.
Turks loved Jews until that "ship" incident happened a month ago.
But I still don't hate you people because I see what you did as defending your country

Moshe (Moses) threw them because he was shocked, and quite upset. Anyone would have been. After what G-d has done for the Jewish people, they then go ahead and serve the Golden Calf, because they think Moses won't come back to lead them. That is one reason why Jews are now hated from other nations. They committed a sin, therefore we are being punished, as a reminder that we need to have faith and NOT act like the other nations. Only then there will finally be peace.

No. Roman Jews did not kill Jesus. That is what the Christians/ Catholics believed. Really, the Roman ruler of the time, killed Jesus. But of course, we were blamed for everything, therefore we were "Jesus killers."
Now, the reason for all of this hatred, is because some Jews follow the other nations, by not being fully devoted to Judaism, like not practicing the Sabbath, etc. We make ourselves part of the society in which we live in, when in reality, we need to keep to our selves, and NOT fully "Americanize" ourselves. Yes, we can be Americans, Canadians, etc. but we have to remember what are true nation is all about. Everything that happens in the World is because of us. We were G-d's chosen nation, therefore all our actions, cause a reaction. I learned that in Jewish History.
Now, I am not saying that we deserve this hatred, because we most certainly DO NOT deserve being hated. But what I am saying, is that we need to perfect ourselves in order to gain some peace.

Quick history fact: Pontius Pilate authorized Jesus's crucification only under extreme pressure from a Jewish mob, led by the Sanhedrin. The Sanhedrin were the ones who conducted the first trial, found Jesus should be sentenced to death, then pressured Pilate into authorizing his crucification. If the Sanhedrin had had the authority to use the death penalty, they would have put Jesus to death themselves. The Sanhedrin also knew that Pilate had been informed from Rome that if their was another riot in Judea, it would be his head, so they were able to use this to pressure him into complying with their wishes.

The Jews were banned from having their own court to determine sentencing, that is why they couldn't have killed Jesus in the first place.

They had their own court, they just didn't have the death penalty.
