So I'm being put on Yaz, and I'm planning on starting it tomorrow (August 1st). Has anyone had any complications with this brand? And I've read the little booklet thingy but I'm not sure if I should talk to my mom about it before I start, She's a pharmacist so she'd be able to answer my questions but I'm scared that if I start a conversation about birth control, it'll lead to "The Talk" (I haven't formally had one with her yet). By the way, it's not primarily being taken for birth control, just a handy side affect I suppose :P

Well I saw a commercial about that Yaz and it has a LOT of weird side affects. I think one of them was death. S:

I doubt a medication like that would cause death, if it did it wouldn't be allowed in chemists because they wouldn't want people dying.

Now OP :P, hi Amanda xD
Anyways, I don't have a clue what yaz is so, guessing since your mum is one of those people, you'd have to talk to her. If you get the talk, just say "mum..I've already learnt it, you don't need to tell me" that usually stop her, cause if she can't talk about that, she'd try to keep you safe anyways and tell you about birth control, the side affects and whatnot.

All birth control pills have crazy side affects and dangers to them lol.

Hi Siobhan :P
Yaz is a brand of birth control pill. Okay, I'll do that, I don't want any more awkward conversations between me and her.

Does your mom know that you are going on birth control?

My friend was on Yaz, but she switched. It made her gain some weight, which she wasn't happy about, and something else, but I'm not sure if it was a big deal or anything. She switched because of some other, unrelated reason.

Yeah, my mom knows :P

I sorta talked to her about it and she told me I could start it today, I'm just waiting till tonight to take it because I'm more likely to remember to take it in the evening rather than the morning

I'll probably remind you cause I'm cool like that :P
But anyways, I told you she'd not give you the "talk" :D

Yep, I've had a bad experience with it...I was put on it when I was 13 to control my heavy periods (I seemed to outgrow it now though which is odd but whatever) but anyway when I was on it, it gave me a yeast infection and then as soon as I got off of it, it went away. Then when I tried a different brand, it made me feel sick. This might not happen to you but I don't think I'll ever go on a pill again. It's not worth it. :/

I was on it. I was throwing up every morning and had HORRIBLE migraine for two weeks straight.
So I stopped taking it.
I recommend nuvaring. I only had a couple side effects for lik a week. Unless you don't wanna shove anything up your coochie. Lol.

I'm using one called tri-cyclen lo ... pretty good, i didn't get any hardcore side effect, they were all light enough that i could deal with them.

they've gone away now for the most part... and my boobs grew, so i guess thats a plus.

I've heard Jaz is bad though. I wouldn't take that particular brand/

The doctor I saw put me on Yaz because of the lower dosage of hormones, apparently better at my age. I was showing symptoms of poly cystic ovarian syndrome and she was hoping that would help. And she and my mom talked about brands together, so I really didn't have much say. Although I haven't had any bad side affects yet, but it's only been 3 days.

EVERY FRICKIN DRUG COMMERCIAL ON EARTH IS 2 MINUTES. first 10 seconds: introducing the drug. next 20 seconds: what the drug does. next minute and a half; ALL THE BAD SIDE EFFECTS. usually they include stroke, death, heart attack, headaches, pain, puking, and loads of crap WAY WORSE than anything that the drug prevents. this is the same. every drug is like this. they all have rediculous, retarded side effects. so basically.... it doesn't matter what brand u choose.

yaz, nope never been on it
i am on yasmin which is a much better brand for you to try. relieves cramps and blood flow
i would reccomend it because i asked my dr about yaz and she said its one of the worst u can be on. but one thing that u shud never go on is the depo provera shot because if u plan on having kids some day it can ruin ur chances of getting pregnant. i was on it over 3 years ago and it made me really sick, now because of it my periods still aren't normal

There's been some commercials against Yaz, saying it can cause a lot of dangerous symptoms and it isn't as safe as other birth controls. People have died and sued the company. I would see if there was any other options, just to be safe.
