Why is it that countries like the Netherlands and many parts of northern Europe, people are quite tall on average, but in places like China, Indonesia, Mexico, Vietnam and the Philippines, the average height for both sexes is quite tiny compared to most other countries? Why is this so?

Same reason that people have different accents in parts of the world, or shape of eyes, or anything really.

The genetics vary in a region.

Asian, South American, and Southern Europe have very low protein diets, due to a lack of edible animals in the region, being genetically prone to being tall is a negative trait since your body can't have the nutrition it needs to get there.

Northern Europe, and parts of Africa, have more edible animal and domesticated livestock (in Europe) local to the region, and people get the protein. It allows the people to grow taller, and the taller genes are favorable.

Now of course I'm talking naturally, on an evolutionary scale. Today these genes have stuck because the changes in our diet have only just happened, on an evolutionary timescale
