Plus, do you think women who have sex with underage boys should get the same penalty as vice versa?

Hey, I decided to join here for laughs. anyway, why do you feel that way?

Because, why should we allow women to receive less harsh penalties for breaking the same law that men have doneso over and over again? Aren't both just as guilty? If it's statutory rape, the younger partner has consented, but it just will not be recognized, therefore, why should the man who has sex with the willing girl, be anymore penalized than the girl that has sex with the willing boy?
Also, what do you mean by 'hurt'? Do you mean physically, emotionally, or both?
(Maybe I shouldn't be turning this around on you) :P

we had a similar discussion on a "boys hitting girls" thread somewhere, and this was the consensus. If feminists want a gender-equal society they can't just have benefits, they've gotta take the less-than-nice parts too.

I dont see why it would be less hurtful to boys, and in my opinion taking advantage of a kid should have the maximum punishment possible for it in each case, dont take buts etc into or plea bargaining

plea bargaining
Plea bargaining isn't just too give them a lighter sentence than a judge may agree with, it's often times used as well for when the prosecution think they may be unable to win a conviction at trial.

Plus sometimes plea deals are done to spare the victims the trauma of testimony.

I don't think it'd be more hurtful, if anything it may be more hurtful because society perceives men to be the "giver" rather than the "receiver" of the statutory rape. So when boys are the victims, they may feel they are in the position that the raped girls are in and they're becoming a girl. For boys who are raised in the traditional view of men being the more aggressive ones than girls, statutory rape in a way makes the boy the submissive rather than dominate so gender roles are reversed.
But... given the mounting evidence men and women face about equal violence and sexual assault from the opposite sex, if this is more known to the public and media where the boy was assaulted, then perhaps he will feel less degraded.

everyone should receive an equal punishment. just because sex is one of the only things on a 13 year old boys mind doesnt mean he wants to be forced into it.

Yes, women can never truely be equal until they treat themselves equally are are considered equal in the court of law.

Oh lord, please don't spam TWPR with your "what would you" threads.
And we're messing with definitions, because "statutory rape" can sometimes be two consenting parties, where one is simply over 18 and the other isn't.
However, assuming the boy was forced, yes of course it hurts them.
Men have emotions as well, and the notion that only women can be sexual abused/molested/raped is beyond outdated. Are we implying that we're different species, by saying that boys can't be hurt by the same things girls are?

I would prefer he did, this way we can get a lot more views from a variety of different people from those in CD.
