Has anyone been called a fag or other hate speech? Its ridiculous how many people in this world are willing to go out of their way to make our lives harder. In some countries gay sex can even be punished up to death penalty. Does anybody here worry about being a victim to like a hate crime or something?

To be honest I am very proud of my lifestyle whether accepted by everyone or not. I have been called a "Fag", but it really doesn't bother me. Why let what someone else thinks ruin the way i think about myself? I'll never be ashamed of who I am just because I'm gay doesn't mean what peoples words are going to affect me.

i havent gotten alot of hate speech, but if i did i would just laugh at their ignorance. and "fag" really means a bundle of sticks so its kind of humerous. im not to scared of being a victim of a hate crime, because where i live nobody really cares. if i went to other places it might be different but who knows. and in america they would never punish gays with death, they wouldnt really punish us at all. they cant. its in the constitution

I've gotten a lot, but mainly the "dyke" comment, which I laugh at because they obviously don't know the meaning of that word but think it covers anyone that likes girls. I get called fag, a lot of stuff. The trick is, you got to be proud of who you are because if they see that you're proud of who you are, they can touch you, you're accepting it so they'll have to, too. If aren't proud that gives them the chance to actually call you those things, because they know it'll affect you. Society will always be like that because they don't want to notice anything different from themselves.

Well, you are called a "fag" or "homo" as an insult. Homosexuality and cross-dressing(not often seen publicly) is seen here, but the acts of homosexuality is punishable, and they are sentenced to Jail for some amount of time(7 to 10 years).

No, I can't see anyone trying that with me. But I have received negative comments. But to some people, acts of homosexuality can be such foreign concepts, and can make them uncomfortable. Which they will sometimes be willing to do/say anything to get away from. It scares people too, because they don't want to be seen near it, or correlated with it. There will always be people who act with such ferocity towards something they don't like. It's a fact of life.

Well, sadly, theres not a whole lot you can do. I mean you can educate them on what homosexuality really is (a lot of people make a big scene out of it, or don't agree with it, due to a lack of understanding... most tend to associate it with sex/rape). But in the end, people are still going to think whatever they want. I agree, it's a very sad world we live in that we aren't allowed to love whomever we want without having prejudiced slurs thrown at us, or even worse in some cases!

yea sure i worry about it a lot because where we live, being gay is a low thing and something that most people around here hate including my parents. Im not so worried about being hurt or anything like that but it scares me enough that I wont ever tell anyone because I dont want to be hated or treated like some freak or outcast.

Seriously? Still? I thought those laws were repealed in all states, and any criminal records of it wiped.

I've had fucking loads of abuse about my sexuality. It seems to have mostly subsided now though.
Also, do I worry about it? No. I've learnt not to fear things in general - it will never help the situation in any way.

The OP said that in some countries gay activites were punishable by death. Well I was pointing out that gay activities were still punishable even in the U.S.No death sentences however.
Seriously? Still? I thought those laws were repealed in all states, and any criminal records of it wiped.
They probably treat it like jaywalking. Like, who really gives a flying fuck?

Actually, some of the Bible's philosophies could help someone tremendously in times of bullying.
EDIT: Satan is the devil. Satin is that type of material found in sheets.

That's the south for you. I'm nice and safe up here in the north. Actually... It's illegal here too, twenty years of prison, holy shit. I don't see whats so bad though lol.
I haven't really gotten any hate speech, mostly because I'm in the closet ( Bisexual ) I have been called a "faggot" and things like that before though, but since I'm in the closet I don't understand why they're calling me that :P
Fun Sex Fact:

I always get called a fag or a queer and i really do hate it but i just tell them to fuck off and get on with my day. Sometimes though, it really hits me and i get really upset. Im no out of the closet and over half of the people who get slagged for being gay arent gay at all. In Ireland its legal to be gay but for some sorry bastards out there, being gay is like being an alien.

Discrimination is the way that people show their insecurities without facing them, and the way that they display their ignorance as a cover for them. The thing that people need to realize is that every single person is different, and there is nothing wrong with that. Homophobes, Gay-bashers, Everyday people that use the word fag; They all need to realize that.
As far as me being gay-bashed? Not many people suspect that I could be gay as far as I know, but that doesn't stop people. You could be straight as an arrow but walk differently and people would still spew slurs.

I've never had this happen to me because i'm not out but I live in a small town and I've heard the comments about the few that have come out. Simple I just think its terrible to discriminate against anyone who isn't like yourself.

A few thoughts. I am bi, and not open with the world about it, so I really haven't experienced this type of thing yet. I really don't think it is 100% these peoples fault, allot of it has to do with religion and the lack of education about sexuality that could help to clear up allot of misunderstanding and the huge stigma that is related with sexuality. Some of this hate stuff helps to boost their self esteem at the expense of someone else's, which is wrong, but the fact is being homophobic is because they really don't know what it is, or how it happens, aside from the obvious. If they took some time and learned a little about it, they would not be so quick to say stuff like fag, or homo.
As far as the other thing you said about countries giving the death penalty, that is true, but they are 3rd world countries governed by religion. The United States is the only modern country in the world that still uses the death penalty for anything, not homosexuality of course. Again, this is an example of the stigma and lack of education on the subject of sexuality. It will be a very long time, but homophobia will go the way of racism, still there, but generally accepted, I hope. :\
I hope I helped. :D

Dude...I hate to say this, but now you see what it's like being black. While I am not called a "nigger" everyday, I do face subtle discrimination a lot. It hurts and it sucks, but eventually you get used to it. I'm not saying it's right, but it happens and those ignorant people will unfortunately always exist :(
