We've all heard horrible cyber-bullying stories and tales about that website which shall not be named and what they've done to various people around the world. Back in the 1990s we all thought of the Internet as a new place for research and intellectual discussion, the "information superhighway", but 15 years later the Internet is a much more dangerous place.

Unfortunately, there are many people who have not heard about the dangers of the Internet and all the illegal content and malicious persons who stalk it. They willingly give out personal information and make provocative comments, only to have everything backfire on them and their lives completely ruined. The fact is that the Internet plays host to a whole lot of idiots and the people who feed on their stupidity.

With so many people giving out personal information, believing scams in the e-mail spam we get every day, and making horrible comments only to have an entire unmentionable community destroy them, do you think there should be a disclaimer every time you get on the Internet? People need to be warned not to do things that could hurt them.

This disclaimer would outline all the dangers of putting up personal information on the Internet, falling prey to scams and viruses, and producing content that will make people angry.

People should understand by the time they're using the internet that danger lurks behind every corner. Parents should be warning children not to post anything personal without their permission. I have no idea where a disclaimer would be, it should just be common knowledge passed on to everyone.

There is no cyber-police. Consequences will be the same; dangerous for all parties. People need to learn from mistakes such as these.

It just seems like people aren't paying attention, and they need to be reminded of how dangerous a community of 1 billion people can be. The disclaimer would be integrated into the browser so that every time it's opened it's displayed, with two options: "yes, I understand the risks" or "no, I do not wish to continue".

Why put money and time into something that could be cured with common sense?

It wouldn't cost money for browsers like firefox and chrome to code a simple disclaimer page. And, sadly, not enough people have common sense. How do we give them common sense? By warning them.

Warning them won't give them common sense. It's a dumbshit doing something stupid. Every time you say "Don't do it." they want to do it more.

Since when do people care about disclaimers?

Since when do people care about disclaimers?

Well, yeah, true.

It could be a really insane disclaimer...

Hey, I still think it's a good idea

I'm not saying everyone would pay attention to it, but some people would. How do you think Facebook got in trouble for changing its terms of service? Because people actually read it!

True.

Also, I think we should be taking disclaimers off of things, not putting them on. If you don't know coffee is hot, you get burned, you learn, and you're smarter for it. If you're on the internet, you get burned, you should learn, and not do it again. If you do, you're an idiot and you deserve it.
