Is it possible to convince yourself you are gay even though you aren't? And if you are gay and in denial can you get aroused by girls and be attracted to them ?

You're born gay. You are attracted to whatever you're attracted to. However if you're gay like I am, I'm not physically attracted to woman in anyway. Nor do I really want to change. If you aren't gay to try and convince yourself you are? Either you're gay bi or straight. There's no convincing only accepting who you are.

I dont think it can work like that because soon enough your back to girls. You dont know how it happend but thats they way your setup or what you like. It depends on how you put it.

1) No. 2) Yes.

Sexuality isn't a textbook thing - there are no rules to it whatsoever.

If you're homosexual, that's who you are. End of story. Same with heterosexual and bisexual. You can go in denial but that's a horrible thing to do, it means you aren't proud of who you are. If you believe you are gay you probably can get aroused by girls once in a while, not like you do with men though.

There's methods of therapy to turn a person's orientation differently. Most people believe this is wrong because it's turning one into a person you aren't. Only you can convince yourself who you are attracted to.

Like Ronnie said, you are born gay. It basically was meant to be.

To a degree you can, but you can't really get rid of your other feelings. Changing your thinking process and habits/reactions isn't easy, but that is what most kinds of mental therapy are for. For things like pedophilia, this is a necessary thing to do (and very unpleasant/difficult).

I would never recommend doing this for your sexuality though, it's just like extreme denial.

Being gay is not, and never will be a choice.

I completely agree. I don't think that it has been proven that homosexuality is with a person since birth, if it's hereditary, or if it develops throughout your childhood. Having said that, sexuality can flexible, but you cannot completely change it, as far as I know, without extreme mental therapy.

It's not been disproved either.

You would never be changing someone's actual sexuality imo; you would just me making them think that they're not of another sexuality. Via hypnosis / other cognitive techniques, you can make people think pretty much anything. It goes on all the time.

It isn't as simple as it being decided at birth or not. Just like everything else that forms a person, there are an infinite number of factors.

In my opinion though, you determine the value of these factors and decide who you are. Be who you want to be.

i dont think sexuality is somthing you can hide from or convince yourself of, its the way you feel, unfortunity, sociaty from the day you are born just bombardes you saying str8ness if the way to be, so i guess thats one way to convince yourself?

That's a very good point. So, I suppose it's less of actually changing someone's sexual orientation than making them believe that it is different than it is... a constant state of denial, sort of... but without the denial.

Actually a friend of mine is gay, and we both think he was born that way, but he started out liking girls like everybody else, and after a few online porns, he found he liked men. I think if you really were that much in denial about being gay, you could get turned on by a chick, but I think you would be imagining a guy. :D I think you can convince yourself of just about anything, attraction and sexuality is all in the mind. Although, you always be who you are at the core. :D
