Salt on a Oral Wound

Ok so everytime i have a cut in my mouth or a sore or something my parents tell me to put salt on it. it works and makes it feel better, but why? lol im just wondering cuz i just did it and it feel better. thanks guys

This is totally a shot in the dark... But I think 1 it washes crap out and 2 it dries it up a little bit.

Ya the salt dries it up so there will be less spit in it and less bacteria

Salt dries the wound and in a sense helps the wound heal I think
