There nothing illegal going on here, but please just lock all the same if it is considered to be breaking the rules. I mean no harm to anyone.

What I want to know is, how do you create an backup, or "image" or "dump" of a gamecube game on your computer from a game disk so that it can be played on a PC emulator? I want to play some of my GameCube games on an emulator but I can't figure out how to do it since the "Dolphin" program is unable to read all of the disks.

As I said, nothing illegal about what I want to do, as far as I know. All of the games in question I legally purchased and own, and I am ABSOLUTELY NOT going to distribute them to anyone else... I just want to play them on my PC because I currently dont have any working controllers for my old cube :(

I think you've got to buy a disk reader that is specific to the console that you want to replicate. I've had a quick look around on amazon, argos, pcworld and the like but I can't find anything particularly obvious.

So if you just browse the interwebs and have a look around for a gamecube disk reader you should be able to find something that can read the information from the disk and then put in onto the computer.

What BenMullet said was correct I think. My friend has done this before and from what I remember it was the same.

You could just download Gamecube ROMS from websites instead of dumping them onto your computer.

AFAIK, the main method of ripping GameCube disks is to exploit bugs in some games. This makes the GameCube disk reader itself serve as the ripping device.

Note that burning those images back to a GC-compatible disk is going to be difficult - it usually requires modding the GameCube so it can accept regular mini-DVDs.

I *think* you can dump GameCube images more easily using a Wii and an USB key. I don't own GC games myself, so I can't guarantee it to work, though.
