I am about to start my first year of high school and wondering if we have to take a shower and get naked after gym. That would make me uncomfortable considering that most of my friends have bodies and I have bird chest and a flat stomach.

At our school showers were optional. However I never saw anyone take one..

well i am going into my first year in high school and after sports some people take showers but there are individual showers in our school so no one sees each other. But i hang out with a lot of high schoolers and about 1/3 of them take showers at school.

Dont let it worry you too much, it will be new for everyone else too and they will all be a bit nervous and embarassed, but after the first few times it will just become routine and you wont think anything more about it.

Random boners happen and happen to everyone. If someone tries to make something out of it just ask them why they were looking.

My high school has showers but i dont think anyone uses them.

Last year was my first year of high school and I was also going to a new school so I didn't know anyone and I thought I would have to shower after gym and I was really scared of what people thought, but when I got to gym class I figured out we didn't have to take showers so I was so happy, but to answer your question it depends on your school, but the high school I was going to go to didn't require it and neither does the one I go to so for me it was never a problem hopefully you have the same luck.

Seriously dude, don't stress it. Most people do, and that's perfectly normal. BUT, it isn't as bad as people make it out to be. Think of it like this. You're in there for a shower, so just take the shower. Focus on taking the shower ONLY, and leave. Simple as that. Pretty soon, you'll be fine and be able to stand there and chat/make joke with your friends like me. XD

And BTW if anyone comments negatively on your body, no matter the area, they are just being d***s. Just shrug it off. Don't let ANYONE hurt your self-image.

My school doesn't require it, but some schools do. It just depends.

Well its different at all schools, some require it while at some it is optional. At my school you do not shower after gym class nor get naked. You just change into gym clothes.
But I dont think its a big deal, I mean all guys have tha same body parts, and probably other guys have the same worries you have right now.

I know how you feel I'm not in high school yet but have to shower for swim practice brfore & after. I'm VERY small down there and don't have any hair. I got teased at first but the other guys got bored & stopped

As far as boners go a lot of guys have gotten them in shower & locker but teasing about that isn't to bad Some times it's like chain reaction one guy gets one and after noticing others start poping up (pun intended) all around.

It's gonna be uncomfortable the 1st couple times but It will seem normal by end of 1st semester

You could always tease them back as say "Like what you see?" when they respond with "NO" tell them to shut up! People who tease people do it because they can, but as soon as you stand up to them they shut down...
Worked with me anyway not with this situation but others.
I live in Nova Scotia, Canada and I don't think any school here makes them have a shower, and I don't think anyone ever did...

It depends on which school you go to. You can usually find ways around it if you want to though
