Yesterday I was at the lake with my little brother who has a life-threating deiase and some girl that was about 16 or 17 said he looked like he was haveing trouble swimming and i said he has a bad leg then she told me to take my criple little brother and leave so i punched her then her friend comes over and hits me so in the end i had a broken nose busted lip and now i have 2 black eyes. i have never been in a fight before but it makes me so mad when people say stuff about my brother when they dont even know him. so do you think i did the right thing for taking up for my brother or should i have just walked away. oh and both of the other girls had busted lips.

Personally, I would have done the same, but maybe you should have told her to back off before you punched her. Kudos.

No it wasn't the right thing, but you ask anyone and they will say they they would have done the exact same thing. It's good that you stood up for your brother, no-one has the right to judge him

I have a handicapped brother who gets teased quite a bit too and I can honestly say, I would've hit her too. Well not her but if it was a him then I would've.
People should be more understanding of other disabilities, its not like they chose to be born with life altering disabilities or could help it that they were.

You acted as a human being, reacting in the way everyone else would have. Well Done!

I think you did the right thing. I have 2 little brothers, and it pisses me off so bad when someone tries to talk shit about them. So kudos to you, I would've done the same thing. Id rather have 2 black eyes and a broken nose, than to let someone have the satisfaction of making fun of someone they have no business making fun of.

That was a horrible thing that girl said, so I would have done the same thing if someone said that to me (only if they were also male though). She certainly deserved it.
But, it wasn't the right thing to do. You should of just said 'fine, we'll go' and just walked off or something like that. But its easier said than done though, so you shouldn't feel guilty.
I used to be bullied, and my older brother just ignored it. Your brother probably feels glad to have a sister who sticks up for him.

No, you didn't do the right thing. I understand you were angry and wanted to get back at her, but physical actions are not the right way. It can get you in a lot of trouble, and words are more fun anyways:

*in a CALM but strong voice*
"He may be handicapped but at least he's not a fucking stupid cunt like you."
*walk away slowly*

That kind of thing is how I prefer to handle it.

Nicely put... i change my original answer. Violence isn't the answer to everything. You should only use it as self defense..

Why would you leave? Everyone has a right to be just about where ever they want and just cuz some girl thinks its right to make fun of someone handicapped doesn't mean you should roll over.

Maybe hitting them right off wasn't the best thing after all. But if you still want to hit them, word that sentence a little different so that it pisses her off and she hits you first. THEN its self defense :P

That's why I love words. There are very few people who I can't make extremely angry extremely fast using just words, so what's the point in using my hands? Much more satisfying to see the look on their faces when their offensive comment is met by something way more offensive immediately. Especially if you appear to not care.

Words can win every battle. Fists however, you may win, you may not.

I personally enjoy it much more if you say something that is just above their intelligence level. Then their reaction is priceless, because they normally don't understand it beyond knowing it was an insult :)

Well this is off topic but oh well.

Well.... I know getting physical isn't really a good answer to anything, BUT personally i'd have done the same thing.
