I moved to the U.S. when i was 9 in 2004. I'm Filipino and I have pride for who I am and where I came from. I can still speak the language fluently. Though I feel as if my "filipinoness" is slipping away from me. I hear news about my hometown changing and all. Recently I spend my nights/early morning looking at pictures of my hometown on the internet. The only thing on my mind is "I want to go back home..". I'm smart enough to know not to permanently stay there because of the economy and government. However that will not stop me from visiting the country that I proudly represent everyday. I start to feel depressed when I know I wont be able to come home this year. I just dont want my country changing too much. If anything, I want it just the way it was when I left it. But everyone knows that change is inevitable.
You can take me away from the Philippines, but you cant take the Philippines away from me.

Well, good for you, I guess. I want to go to the Philippines someday, too.

Good for you! I hope you're able to go home as often as you'd like

I'm kind of in your shoes dude. I was born in Japan and left when I was only 9 and 1/2 months old. I've been away from it for 12 years and 2 1/2 months. I've missed Japan like crazy.
