I think it would be cool if you could post up a status on your page. just a thought

This has already been discussed in the past. It ended with "This is a help site, not a social networking site". So, that is where this ends as well.

You could be a bit more polite...


Anyways after you make a diary you could make a thread where you can "update your status" but otherwise we don't have any type of features where we can do that because we don't really like to emphasize the social networking as much as just getting people the help and advice they need.

You might of put it a bit bluntly.
But you're right basically. It will probably never be implemented into the site, only diaries and maybe TWPR.

I may be wrong, but my understanding it that technically it would be possible to add a custom profile field for this if it was considered desirable. I dont really see the need or benefit for it, I would never remember to keep mine up to date and I guess that would be true for many other people too.

Also, Skyler that wasn't rude it was the truth, may have been blunt but you gave the right answer. it's been said before, it's a help site, and I will say it again, it's a help site. You want to social network, use s social networking site. It's not hard.

Make a blog post or spam your VMs with them. There isnt really a need for it.

GovTeen has it to where you can set your mood and it'll show up on your profile and MiniProfile.

If status updates were introduced, do you know how many P101er's would be setting their status' to something like "I'm horny, who wants to cam???"

Not only would that be insanley annoying but it would be against the rules, meaning moderators would have to send out more bannings and infractions.

Facebook and Twitter were made specifically for status updates, so I suggest signing up for them. Your VM wall is the closest thing we'll have here :)

This is something ive mentioned to many people before. There are a few vB mods that allow posting a status and mood. Yes, this site is a help site, but it also has alot of other forums!
And posting a status like "feeling a little depressed today" may get them a little more attention, and some help from someone who happens to see their status.

If people posted stuff like that, it would demean the purpose of venting in the forums. We have already covered this. Virtual Teen is not Facebook.

or they can post a thread where they can say a bit more than that and make sure people will see it and get some help straight away and not on the off chance that somone looks on their profile

Or.. instead of saying that they're depressed.. they could say something like... "So horny right now.. who wants to cam?"

The mood feature is a recent addition to govteen and I find it to be the most pointless thing ever. I just want to read and answer posts, not to have to think whether my shown mood is accurate at the moment. And yes, you can set your mood to be "Horny".
