I get really bad nose bleeds down to blood pressure and some of the tablets I'm on, does anyone have any idea's to at least lessen them? At the moment I'm having at least 1 per day and its not the usual 5 minute one. :/ Any help'll be appreciated.

well most people say that to stop a nose bleed you should put your head back. that is something you should NOT do. it can make you feel sick. also dont shove anything up there, pinch the bridge of your nose. as for stopping them all together, you should see a doctor. i think they have special things that they can do to prevent them. thats all i got

It depends what tablets you're on. Are you on blood thinners? If not, try to up your Vitamin K intake. If you are, go talk to your doctor. Cauterization (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cauterization#Nasal_cauterization) may be necessary, or at least an option.

I'm on Warfarin, if that means anything?

Warfarin, also know as coumadin, is a blood thinner, so the vitamin K is out. It's also one of the reasons you're having your nose bleeds. 99% of the home remedies to prevent nose bleeds have to do with upping your clotting factor, which is something you don't want to do, since your on a medication designed to lower it. Talk to your doctor. Cauterization is probably your best hope, unless he's able to lower the dose of the warfarin or take you off it completely. Sorry.

Yeah, warfarin means everything. Nasty drug, that rat poison.

Nose bleeds are basically superficial blood vessel rupture, right? And the whole idea behind preventing and stopping them is to prevent the rupture in the first place, and then encourage clotting to stop the bleeding. Obviously encouraging clotting is not a great method since you're on blood thinners for presumably good reason (you don't just get put on warfarin as a lark, it's a serious drug that doesn't get prescribed unless really necessary). So the only thing I can tell you at the moment is to try and keep your nose well-moisturized. And for that, my expert advice - from when I was on Accutane and used to get incredibly dry membranes in my nose - is to use a Q-Tip with some Vaseline on it to moisturize. It's a little gunky, but nothing works better than Vaseline.

My pleasure. :) I'll keep thinking too, may come up with something else if I can.

lolz That's what she said.

Sorry, couldn't help it. Good advice though. (Though I'd rather get the nose bleed than shove a Q-tip up there but then again that's just me.)

Edit: Went to the doctors this morning and he lowered the dose of warfarin I was on, hopefully it'll stop the problem. Thanks for the help guys :)
