Old Best Friend Problem =\

So, I've been close with a kid who lives down my street since Kindergarden, so roughly about 10 years. We would hang out and all that usual stuff like normal kids.

But, about 5 days ago, he started asking if I was gay. And seeing how he's one of my closest friends, i decided to tell him the truth that yes, I am gay. However, then he started calling me a gay fag and acting homophobic. Now, I didn't care if he was homophobic, I would just stop talking to him.

But, the problem is, our families are very close. Our parents are friends, and so are our sisters. So, we basically are going to be forced to see each other.

What can I do to ease tension or stuff?

Just act normally, don't seek him out, and if he does to harass you just ignore him. Don't egg him on, and don't answer to his taunts.

do all the old stuff you guys did. act as if nothing happened and try and get him to hang out with you like best budds. this is all i can think of but i bet you someone else has a better idea. :) best of luck to you and i hope you get your friend back. ^_^

If it gets out of hand just call him out for being extremely ignorant and insulting and tell him that you don't want anything to do with him if he's gonna be so unaccepting.

i would play it cool, if any of your family members dont know your gay then try to find something to do with other people, or if your forced to go to his house then im not sure what i'd do besides hang out with your family.. also you could try talking to him make him see that just because your gay doesnt mean your any different from before...
