I'm trying to lose some of my stomach fat ( So my abs will show ) and I can't lose it. So I'm just wondering if they actually work.

It depends. Many weight loss pills are simply stimulants, and stimulants can certainly decrease appetite. But I strongly recommend against this route, it's not sustainable and doesn't really get you ahead in the long term. You risk habituation, etc.

In terms of non-stimulant routes, the only drug I'm aware of that shows true results is orlistat, which blocks a portion of the fat in food from being absorbed. It has some... gross side effects, so I also wouldn't recommend it.

Bottom line? They don't really work well in an easy and useful way. If you can't do it naturally, odds are the pills won't make the magical difference.

i've seen appetite loss pills. they're not for weight loss they simply take away some of your daily cravings. probably the closest to safe medication in aid of weight loss i've seen.

Off topic, but would that SlimFast drink work? Apparently it controls your hunger so you don't eat. It has like 222 calories per can, and I read somewhere that if you really want to lose weight, go at least 500 calories per day, so two of those drinks per day.

To lose weight safely, you need the advice of a qualified dietician. Eating healthily, not starving yourself, and getting plenty of exercise.

Nearly all diet pills are caffeine and other stimulants. A FEW ARE LAXATIVES. DO NOT TAKE THESE
For some people (including myself) they block your appetite, but they don't work for everyone.
Also, the caffeine is addictive - don't listen to ANYONE who says it ain't.

ReSlimfast: No! Jesus even I eat more than 500kcal/day and I don't eat enough.
That number is a MINIMUM for people who are SEVERELY overweight, which if you're just going to get visable abs you are not.
They're meal replacements that (supposedly) help not have the mid day munchies. For me they never work but some people maybe.
You need to eat real food tho. Really.

Alright, thanks for the help. Its just those commercials make it look like it works, I guess they don't though.

Of course they do, and they can. They also have to say "not FDA approved, your results may vary, to be used along with exercise program"
Well no shit if you use them with an exercise program you'll loose weight

That's the point of a commercial, right? It wouldn't be a very good incitement to buy the product if it made it look like it didn't work. :P

But as Kyle notes, all these commercials are heaped with disclaimers that basically make it clear that all the claims they make are unsubstantiated medically.

The disclaimers are so small though they make it so you can't even see them :P

Most of them around here say it verbally.

Also I've read several packages... not for... any reason... *eyes dart*
