work hard for 3-4 times a week for atleast an hour, whether that be working out, running or playing with friends. If your not sweating, your not doing enough.

Here's a really good method that works for pretty much everyone who does it: burn more calories than you consume. If you decrease the amount of calories in your food, and increase your level of activity, your body will eventually burn fat. A low calorie diet with exercise should work. But remember "thinking" you're overweight and actually being overweight are two different things. You should talk to your doctor about it.
