Well it depends, if you want to use it for HD then put your money into a motherboard with pci express slots and get a good video card, but a pentium D or better should be good, you want about a gig of ram or more so the processor can be used to it's full potential, preferably ddr2.

it doesnt really need to be that pwoerful even for HD, he said he wants to spend as little as possible, so what do you have at the moment? and will you be using HD?

A pentium D doesn't cost much, get it free with a motherboard. You do need a decent video card for HD though, the lower end ones don't even have the plug on the back anyway.

Yarr i will never use an Intel proc on purpose in any computer i own. And no, i will not be using HD. For the rest of the specs im thinking 1gb DDR RAM, whatever motherboard that supports AGP, Radeon 9800, 300gb HDD SATA if possible, 400W Thermaltake PSU, some decent sound card.
