A good time, taking a long ride in the country side and just talking, nothing that needs money just talking and driving.

My first date with my boyfriend consisted of mini golf and getting ice cream. There was absolutely no pressure on us, and it was beautiful. We laughed and talked about lots of things while we were mini golfing, and we somehow managed to skip 6 holes!
We met up with his sister who drove us to the ice cream place and got ice cream with us, and we sat outside and ate it. It was really nice.
We didn't even hold hands or kiss or anything haha, but it was perfect in my book. We both had a lot of fun, and obviously it went well because we are dating now. :P

My definition of "a date" is found in Webster's Seventh New Collegiate Dictionary: "an appointment for a specified time, especially a social engagement with the opposite sex". I also expand that to include groups of people in which both sexes are represented.
Best date ever: my senior prom. We were both there mostly to dance and talk and hold hands and have fun. That's the key to having a good (single) date: both parties should be there for the same (or similar) purpose and then just do it. That's why the senior prom beat the snot out of most of the other dates I've been on.
I think the main problem with the "modern" system of dating is that it prematurely connotes ownership and exclusivity. Another big issue I have with it is that a lot of people are in it for what ego can get out of it, not for what the other person involved can get out of it. I suppose that's not so much a problem with the system itself as it is with an abuse of the system. Also, the importance of meeting a the other person's family is minimized. As my friend put it, "If you get married, you're marrying the family too. Even if she hates her parents, she's still a product of them."

A good first date is when you want to have a second date.

Dating is stupid. I'd prefer to have fun and hang out with my girlfriend the same way I have fun and hang out with anyone else. No pressure, no heavy emotional bullshit. Just a good time.

One with the right person.
You can't possibly have any idea of who the right person is on a first date though. Isn't that the entire point of dating? To get to know the other person more and enjoy yourselves?

You should ask someone out yourself sometime. Fear of rejection is always worse than rejection itself.

The definition of a good date is one you can look back on in ten years no matter how the relationship ended and still smile (OK corniness off)
My best date was me and my girlfriend walking around my neighborhood for like five hours haha

My idea of a good date is a movie with me him and a few of our friends...then back to his house to play videogames.

I think a good date is really all that dependent on location its more of who you're with. Ideally for me, I thinking mini golf or something that doesn't take a whole lot of attention would be perfect. Then you could talk to the other person and use the activity as a distraction if the conversation died down.
