The target of many antidepressants is to increase neurological reactions with serotonin. I was wondering if anyone is aware of foods that activate serotonin receptors or that are prone to block reuptake of serotonin.

Also any sources for this information would be appreciated too.
I would like to avoid pills for my depression at the moment and would like to try other alternatives to alter/assist my bodies biochemistry

Thanks

Chocolate.

I can't remember where I read it at the moment, but it is a well-known natural anti-depressant, by doing exactly that: affecting serotonin production and receptors.

Found something about it: http://edition.cnn.com/HEALTH/indepth.food/sweets/chocolate.cravings/index.html
